(Telecompaper) Vodacom South Africa says it will introduce a range of initiatives from 01 April that will result in ZAR 2.7 billion in savings for customers using data services. The proposal was approved by the Competition Commission, which had ordered mobile operators to lower the cost of internet services.

Masmovil FY revenues hit EUR 1.7 bln after adding 1.4 mln subs in 2019

(Telecompaper) Spanish telecommunications provider Masmovil, the country's fourth largest network operator, reported net revenues of EUR 1.68 billion for 2019, up 16 percent year on year, and service revenues of EUR 1.46 billion, up 24 percent, after adding some 1.4 million mobile and fibre customers over the period. Adjusted EBITDA was up 42 percent year on year to EUR 468 million, with the company's EBITDA margin rising 5 percentage points to 28 percent. Full-year profit climbed 32 percent on a reported basis to EUR 93 million, impacted by EUR 108 million non-cash financial expenses related to a convertible bond acquisition in Q2 and a EUR 144 million capital gain derived from the sale of 1 million residential fibre units to Macquarie in Q4.
Cellnex revenues up 15% to over EUR 1 bln in 2019, narrows net loss

(Telecompaper) Spanish operator Cellnex Telecom, Europe's largest mobile towers company, reported full-year revenues of EUR 1.035 billion in 2019, up 15 percent on the year-earlier result of EUR 901 million, completing its fifth straight year of double-digit growth. The company's EBITDA rose 16 percent to EUR 686 million and it reduced its net loss for the 12-month period to EUR 9 million from EUR 15 million the year before despite higher amortisations and financial costs associated with the growth of the group and the expansion of its geographical footprint.
America Movil to invest USD 8.5 bln in 2020, launch 5G in H2 - CEO

(Telecompaper) America Movil has plans to spend another USD 8.5 billion on capital expenditures in 2020, similar to last year's investment, to continue expanding its fibre-optic infrastructure throughout Latin America and launch its first 5G networks, said the company's CEO Daniel Hajj, according to Reuters. In a call with investors following the publication of America Movil's full-year results, Hajj said 5G services will likely debut in Mexico this year and may arrive in Brazil as well, depending on the availability of spectrum.
Liberty Global starts USD 1 bln share buyback plan amid lower Q4, with continued customer losses

(Telecompaper) Liberty Global said revenues for the fourth quarter slid 0.5 percent to USD 2.982 billion, pulled down by contractions in Switzerland, Belgium and UK/Ireland. Mobile revenue increased 5.2 percent to USD 429.9 million but was not able to offset cable revenue falling 0.9 percent to USD 1.902 billion. The operating cash flow (OCF) declined a bit over 4 percent to USD 1.273 billion with OFCF (OCF after tax) down 18.2 percent to USD 433.4 million. The operating profit meanwhile increased 11.2 percent to USD 282.5 million. For the full year, revenues dipped 0.6 percent lower to USD 11.541 billion, with OCF off 3.1 percent to USD 4.859 billion, OFCF up 34.5 percent to USD 1.979 billion and the operating profit going 11.2 percent lower to USD 745.5 million.
