Brookfield consortium to acquire Reliance tower business for INR 252 bln

(Telecompaper) Reliance Industrial Investments and Holdings Limited (RIIHL), a subsidiary of India's Reliance Industries, has signed an agreement with BIF IV Jarvis India, an affiliate of Brookfield Asset Management for an investment by Brookfield (along with co-investors) of INR 252.15 billion in the units proposed to be issued by the Tower Infrastructure Trust. Brookfield's investment in the towers infrastructure used by mobile operator Reliance Jio remains subject to the receipt of government and regulatory approvals.

US FTC approves USD 5 bln fine for Facebook data violation - report

(Telecompaper) The US Federal Trade Commission has approved a fine of USD 5 billion on Facebook for violating the personal data privacy agreement it reached with the US government in 2011/2012, Reuters reported. The fine follows the Cambridge Analytica incident of 2018, when Facebook shared data belonging to 87 million of its users. The settlement would be the largest civil penalty ever paid to the agency, but a number of lawmakers said the penalty was not high enough.
Equinix and GIC setting up USD 1 bln JV to build European hyperscale data centres

(Telecompaper) Data centre company Equinix has announced a USD 1 billion joint venture with Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC to develop and operate xScale-branded data centres in Europe. The aim is to serve the unique core workload deployment needs of a targeted group of hyperscale cloud service providers including existing Equinix clients Alibaba Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Google Cloud rather than enter the wholesale market. Equinix said the facilities will be built on or close to some of its existing IBX campuses, allowing clients to increasingly embrace hybrid multicloud as the IT architecture of choice.

Dish close to deal for USD 6 bln in T-Mobile, Sprint assets - report

Dish could announce a deal as soon as this week for assets including spectrum and Sprint's Boost Mobile brand, the report said.
