Google to test Chrome game streaming with new Assassin's Creed title

(Telecompaper) Google announced plans to stat a test of live game streaming in its Chrome browser. It's working with Ubisoft to offer the upcoming new game Assassin's Creed Odyssey to a small group of users to test the streaming technology over the Chrome browser on laptops and PCs.

Cloudflare starts Bandwidth Alliance with Google, Microsoft to lower data transfer costs

(Telecompaper) CDN specialist Cloudflare announced the formation of the Bandwidth Alliance, a cooperation of leading cloud providers set up to lower the costs of data transfer for mutual customers. Founding members include Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, IBM Cloud, Packet, DreamHost, BackBlaze, Automattic, Linode, Scalewa, Vapor and Digital Ocean. They will use Cloudflare's Argo traffic routing engine to help reduce the costs and increase the efficiency of data transfers across their networks.

The EU has been stretching its wings. In the shadow of Brexit, it apparently has decided it has the real enemy of the people in its sights: social media companies and Google. France is even more aggressive, suggesting that the EU's "right to be forgotten" law should apply worldwide. Given that it actually does fall within the legitimate purview of government, it is hard not to agree.

Google Digs In Heels Over Global Expansion of EU's 'Right to Be Forgotten'

Google took on French lawyers at the European Union Court of Justice this week, in an effort to fend off expansion of the EU's "right to be forgotten" judgment. The EU's attempts to broaden the scope of that judgment would be "completely unenvisagable," and it could result in impositions on the values of different countries around the world, Google argued.
