Summary An experienced Technical Project Manager minimum 10 years commercial experience looking for an exciting career in the development of space related applications and services. Objective Successful delivery of technical software development projects covering all lifecycle phases. The position will also require the management of, and support to, the preparation of proposals to win future work. Responsibilities Duties Technical Manager Team Lead on key projects o Responsible for delivery of all management some technical aspects of the project to schedule, budgeted effort and quality requirements. o Technical point of contact with the client o Production of documents both management and technical, often managing a team in these activities. o System Design Authority responsible for the overall design of the system and its compliance to requirements and any applicable legislation. o Preparing for and presentationclose out of formal technical milestone reviews e.g. Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Test Supporting the preparation of proposals to win new work including o Understanding of mgt user requirements o Specification of the solution, trading off alternatives o Estimating the effort required to implement the solution covering the full lifecycle of the project o Writing clear, concise, technical proposals to express the solution and its benefits to the client System Development desirable o On occasion the role may require handson support to projects, including architectural design, detailed design of module and acceptance testing. Qualifications Experience Degree qualified relevant degree with Software Engineering modules, or equivalent experience. Ideally the candidate will have at least 5 years commercial experience of C development. BS clearance essential. SC clearance preferable. Essential Skills Management experience Knowledge of EO or Ground Segment software domains Software system designarchitectures Integration and Test Software Team leadership Familiarity with at least one of JAVA or C or other modern language Proposal writing Software development estimation Relational databases e.g. Oracle, Postgres, SQL Good working knowledge of software development cycle waterfall UML Enterprise Architect Microsoft Office Excel, Word Desirable Skills Knowledge of Agile Scrum development methodology Proficient with both JAVA and C JAVA Enterprise Edition including JSF, EJB, JPA Linux development shell scripting Virtualization Qualities Strong written and oral communication Team player, open and keen to contribute Conscientious, hard working Attention to detail Further Details All roles within Telespazio VEGA have a defined closing date, however if a successful candidate is found before the advert expires the role will be closed early. User support mainly scientists and engineers Handle the mail aliases and mail distribution list Handlingcheckingmodifying all backups Definition, implementation and maintenance of computer operators procedures Issues of documentation and technical reports GRID related activities Installation, configuration, integration, operations, maintenance and upgrade of Grid Engine and EGI UMD GRID middleware infrastructure Support users to adapt their computing tasks to the GRID infrastructure Cloud related activities Installation, configuration, integration, operations, maintenance and upgrade of Eucalyptus Cloud middleware Knowledge of other Cloud middleware is an asset Contact with hardware and software suppliers Definition of hardwaresoftware needs and quotation requests for new purchases and maintenance contracts Locking hardware incidents calls and following the call history.
