Private equity group to buy Mitel for USD 2 billion

(Telecompaper) Mitel has agreed to be acquired by Searchlight Capital Partners in an all-cash transaction worth about USD 2.0 billion, including Mitel's net debt. Mitel's shareholders will receive USD 11.15 per share in cash, a 24 percent premium over the 90-day weighted average price. When the transaction completes, Mitel will become a privately held company, a move expected to provide it with additional flexibility to accelerate its move-to-the-cloud strategy.
Avast plans IPO in London, proceeds reported to reach USD 1 bln

(Telecompaper) Consumer antivirus supplier Avast Software said it hopes to list its share on the London Stock Exchange in early May, Reuters reported. The company said it will apply for the listing, which it hopes will raise USD 200 million in primary proceeds through the free float of at least 25 percent of its share capital.

Spotify, Hulu expand partnership with new streaming bundle for USD 13 per month

(Telecompaper) Spotify and Hulu have extended their partnership beyond an offer for students to bundle their music and TV streaming services in a single plan open to anyone. Last summer they launched Spotify Premium bundled with Hulu's TV service with limited ads for USD 4.99 per month for students. The new plan open to anyone costs USD 12.99 per month, compared to a standard price for the separate services of USD 9.99 and USD 7.99.
App revenues soar 22% to over USD 18 bln in Q1

(Telecompaper) Worldwide app downloads and revenues posted record annual rises in the first quarter of 2018, according to the latest report from App Annie. Global iOS and Google Play combined downloads surged more than 10 percent year-on-year to 27.5 billion while combined consumer spend on the two platforms rose 22 percent year-on-year to USD 18.4 billion. The download figures don't include app updates or re-installs on new phones.
AT&T to raise up to USD 653 mln in IPO of DirecTV LatAm stake

(Telecompaper) AT&T has launched an initial public offering of a stake in Vrio Corp, the holding company for its satellite television service DirecTV Latin America. In a statement, the company said it expects the IPO of 29.7 million class A Vrio shares to raise up to USD 653 million, with the price expected at USD 19 to USD 22 per share.
