Officials in Pearl River County tell us they are working to drain an entire 50 acre lake in the Amackertown community after a leak was discovered in a dam on Wednesday. County spokesman Tony Bounds said the dam, located just miles from the Pearl River/Marion County line, was in "imminent danger" of breaking.

Erie trustee upset by official's decision-changing text from oil firm

After Erie's town board voted late Tuesday to delay its decision on an oil and gas moratorium, Trustee Jennifer Carroll is voicing concern over the actions of a town official during the board's consideration of the measure. Carroll, along with Mayor Tina Harris and Trustee Scott Charles, was on the losing side of Tuesday night's 4-3 vote to table the year-long fracking moratorium until at least Jan. 27. The trustees appeared poised to pass the moratorium 4-3 when Town Administrator A.J. Krieger received some last-minute communication from representatives of the Anadarko Petroleum Corp., including a text message and email from the company attorney.

Officials say 'no threat to public' after tritium leak at Browns Ferry plant

Tennessee Valley Authority officials confirmed a leak of water from Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in the past week contained levels of a radioactive element above Environmental Protection Agency drinking water standards. Approximately 100-200 gallons of water containing tritium seeped from the tanks at an estimated rate of a half-gallon per minute.
