Chinese authorities have launched man-in-the-middle attacks on Apple's iCloud.com and Microsoft's Login.live.co that are ongoing, according to Greatfire.org. Qihoo 360 browser users' local connections to iCloud.com are being rerouted to a dummy site that's identical to Apple's login page. Users of Firefox or Chrome land on a warning page instead. The attack on iCloud reportedly is nationwide.

Officials say oil spill has not reached Caddo Lake

Cleanup crews continue to mop up a 4,000-barrell oil spill into a four-mile stretch of Tete Bayou northwest of Shreveport. Officials said Saturday that the oil has been contained without reaching Caddo Lake, which straddles the Texas-Louisiana state line and provides drinking water for some water systems.

Jersey City officials showcase Bergen-Lafayette real estate; abandoned properties eyed

The Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood of Jersey City, which has struggled with pockets of poverty and crime, is getting an economic shot in the arm from the city. Representatives from the city's Redevelopment Agency led a group of 40 local realtors and real estate agents on a bus tour of the neighborhood to show them eight of the 23 abandoned properties the city hopes will be restored.
