The Position This is an opportunity to contribute your expertise to currently operated or future Earth Observation missions in close collaboration with our institutional clients in the space sector! We are seeking software engineers specializing in data processing of remote sensing instruments to join our team for Payload Operation Systems. This role will work on the development, improvement and maintenance of data processing chains of major Earth Observation mission, including all aspects relating to product generation and quality monitoring calibration, verification and validation. The area of application may range from software prototyping up to maintenance of operational processors. You should bring an indepth understanding of remote sensing products of optical imaging payloads, as well as of higherlevel retrieval algorithms. Do you want to use your expertise in engineering of data processing systems for the benefit of essential meteorological services in Europe and globally? If so, then EUMETSAT is the place to be! We have been gathering information from satellites for over 30 years and want to use this data to best effect. As a result, two opportunities have arisen to join the busy Data Processing Systems and Applications Competence Area to provide us with technical support to design and develop new processing systems used for climate activities as well as to reprocess our significant amount of climate data. Your responsibilities will include defining and managing requirements for climate processing and reprocessing systems, identifying and delivering the evolving needs of users. Leading the engineering and procurement activities, you will be pivotal in the implementation of these systems. You will be involved in testing and rollout. Additionally you will support operations and management in defining longterm plans to harmonise data processing systems across all EUMETSAT satellite systems.
