US buyers have looked for lower prices in China, resulting in stagnating imports in value terms. Other origins have experienced the opposite trend. Our monthly review covers US apparel import data, with historical trends being analyzed over the 2000-2019 period, including cotton vs. man-made fiber apparel, and China vs. Vietnam and the Rest of the World (RoW). Import data are available per origin in the year-to-date, in volume, value, and unit value terms.

Apparel exports from Vietnam have stayed firm in the second quarter, thanks to a strong US demand ahead of additional tariffs on Chinese products. Exports to Japan, Korea, and the largest European markets have slowed down, however. Our statistical series provide a detailed view of Vietnam's clothing exports per destination in the 2nd quarter 2015-2019, including volume, value, and unit value changes. Data also include US and EU clothing imports from Vietnam per product category, whereas a comprehensive benchmark comparison between Vietnam and other countries of origin is also released. All data are available for download.

MAS's Twinery tackles waste in apparel production
