A nearly stationary and poorly-defined area of low pressure is located over the east-central tropical Atlantic about midway between the west coast of Africa and the Windward Islands. This system continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms, and development will likely be hindered by the interaction with a large tropical wave located just west of the Cabo Verde Islands. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...20 percent. A tropical wave and area of low pressure located just west of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Gradual development of this system is expected as it moves westward to west-northwestward, and a tropical depression is likely to form late this weekend or early next week when the system reaches the central tropical Atlantic. * Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...40 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...high...80 percent. A nearly stationary and poorly-defined area of low pressure is located over the east-central tropical Atlantic about midway between the west coast of Africa and the Windward Islands. This system continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms, and some slow development could occur during the next couple of days before it merges or interacts with the large tropical wave currently located just west of the Cabo Verde Islands. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent. * Formation chance through 5 days...low...30 percent. 000 ABPZ20 KNHC 042310 TWOEP Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 500 PM PDT Fri Sep 4 2020 For the eastern North Pacific...east of 140 degrees west longitude: A well-defined low pressure system is located about 100 miles south of the the southern coast of Mexico. The associated shower and thunderstorm activity remains displaced well to the west of the low. Although upper-level winds are forecast to inhibit further development during the next couple of days, only a small increase in thunderstorm activity near the surface center of circulation could result in the formation of a tropical depression. This system is expected to move generally west-northwestward, near or along the southern coast of Mexico during the next few days. Regardless of development, this system could produce locally heavy rainfall along portions of the coast of southwestern Mexico. Although most of the associated shower and thunderstorm activity is displaced well to the west of the low, a few showers and thunderstorms have recently developed near the center. Conditions are expected to be only marginally conducive for further development during the next couple of days, but only a small increase in thunderstorm activity could result in the formation of a tropical depression.
