American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) completed development of standard for designing and testing drawbar pins on agricultural equipment. ANSI/ASABE S625, Drawbar Pin Dimensions and Requirements for Towed Equipment, establishes dimensional and minimum strength requirements for agricultural drawbar hitch pins used in single point attaching of towed machine to towing machines or leading machines.

Revision aligns with current practices and equipment by establishing minimum recommendations for measurement, reporting, siting, operation, maintenance, and data management procedures for automatic agricultural weather stations.

ASABE is developing a new standard to establish a framework for developing programs that chart progress toward sustainable agricultural production. Designated X629, Framework to Evaluate the Sustainability of Agricultural Production Systems, will include provisions for defining and benchmarking key performance indicators, setting goals, implementing strategies for continuous improvement, and reporting improvements. It will apply to all types of farming operations found in North America.

ASABE Adopts Updated ISO Standard for rear-mounted PTO linkages.

American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) adopted recently amended ISO 730:2009. New standard, ANSI/ASABE AD730:2009 W/Amd 1:2014, Agricultural wheeled tractors — Rear-mounted three-point Linkage — Categories 1N, 1, 2N, 2, 3N, 3, 4N and 4, includes link coupler illustrations and hitch data for larger tractors equipped with 45 mm PTO shafts. These were added in July 2014 Amendment 1 to ISO 730:2009 and further harmonizes national and international standardization.
