Astrium Services Government Communications is the worlds leading commercial provider of militarygrade satellite communications. EADS the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services. Government Communications is the prime contractor for the Skynet 5 contract with the UK Ministry of Defence, signed in October 2003, valued at 3.6bn. The programme provides mobile voice, video, internet and broadcast communications for the UK armed forces, as well as a range of other Government departments and agencies. GC own, manage and operate the Skynet 5 satellite system, and are responsible for delivering the service, controlling the satellite, managing the network and implementing all upgrades throughout its life. From the outset GC designed Skynet 5 to be large enough and capable enough to provide military satellite services to a range of other countries and organisations. These include NATO and the armed forces of the Netherlands, Portugal, Canada, France and Germany. A vacancy has arisen for a Senior HR Business Partner with Astrium Services Government Communications GC. This role can be based at any GC site Stevenage, Corsham, Oakhanger Hampshire or Portsmouth. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing full operational Human Resources management for the Government Communications business, in cooperation with National Platform and Senior HRBPs across Astrium Services, including the provision of specific expertise, advice and support to the people across the Government Communication businesses worldwide. This support will cover career development, learning development, communication, recruitment, compensation and benefits, employment legislation and organisational development. The successful candidate will also act across Astrium Services and Astrium for the implementation of crossdivisional Human Resources related topics and projects. The SHRBP ensures physical proximity to managers and employees especially around people development, represents HR in the Business, reinforces company integration on transnational and crossfunctional aspects. Headcount of 1,700 staff across several BusinessOperational Units worldwide. Contributory responsibility for managing overall payroll costs of 1billion. Liaises with National Platform and Senior HRBPs to provide full operational Human Resources management across the Government Communication and Operational Units. Advises and supports the Government Communication leadership team on all daytoday operational Human Resources issues, and organisational development. Monitors and controls GC headcount within budget and provides accurate reporting. Formulates, with the GC management, the Human Resources element of budgets and Operational Plans in line with the evolution of the business and anticipating the future skill mix requirements. Implements and followups on the Career Management tools and processes MBO, PD, Succession Planning. Prepares and defines Training and Development Plans, including the development of new training for new skills. Supports the delivery of GC Internal Communications Team Briefs, All Hands Briefs, followup on Employee Survey. Implements the Compensation and Benefits Policy Salary Reviews across GC. Actively coaches the Middle Management of GC. Contributes to the development of specific Human Resources Policies and Procedures within the scope of the Astrium Services HR Policy.
