According to the Center for Exhibition Industry Research, there are approximately 13,000 tradeshows held annually in the United States each year. IPC announces that IPC APEX EXPO® 2014 has been recognized by Trade Show News Network as one of the top 250 trade shows in the United States for the fourteenth consecutive year. Coming in at number 149 for 2014 marks a jump from 2013’s ranking of 161.

IPC releases PCB industry results for February 2015.

According to February findings from North American PCB Statistical Program, sales remained sluggish, but bookings increased over last year. Total PCB shipments decreased 1.1% in February 2015 from February 2014, bringing year-to-date shipment growth to -1.6%. Compared to previous month, PCB shipments were up 1.2%. PCB bookings increased by 5.1% compared to February 2014, improving year-to-date order growth rate to 0.9%. Orders declined 0.7% in February compared to previous month.

Event included 448 exhibitors encompassing 143,500 ft² of show floor space, and attracted 9,027 total visitors including attendees and exhibitor personnel. More than 90% of survey respondents said show met or exceeded their top objectives.

IPC's Validation Services Program awarded IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, and IPC J-STD-001 Space Addendum Qualified Manufacturers Listing (QML) to STI Electronics, Inc. (STI). STI successfully completed audits based on all three standards and met or exceeded electronics industry’s Class 3 testing requirements intended for high-performance electronics assemblies. STI will now be listed as IPC-trusted source capable of manufacturing in accordance with industry best practices.

IPC Survey assesses Pb vs Pb-free costs and supply chain risks.

"Fast facts" survey launched by IPC will provide data with which to assess current state of supply chain for military electronics suppliers and issues surrounding trend toward lead (Pb)-free electronics. Open to participation by all manufacturers of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic assemblies for military or aerospace applications, this confidential survey will be available until March 27. Responses are confidential, and only aggregate data will be published in report.
