IPC crowns winner of Hand Soldering World Championship.

IPC's Hand Soldering World Championship at IPC APEX EXPO® drew 8 victors from competitions in China, Europe, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the U.S. Participants were challenged with building a functional electronics assembly within 1-hour time limit. Completing championship round with a nearly perfect score of 247 points out of 248, Min Seok Kim, Samsung Thales Company Limited (Korea), was crowned champion, earning $1,000 cash prize and Metcal MX5210 soldering station.

Recognition is given to individuals who have fostered collaborative spirit, made significant contributions to standards development, and have consistently demonstrated commitment to global standardization efforts and the electronics industry. Each recipient will be eligible to bestow Dieter Bergman Memorial Scholarship upon university or college of his/her choice.

Four IPC Global Statistical Programs are now open.

IPC’s global statistical programs for the laminate, solder, process consumables, and assembly equipment industries are now open to new participants for 2015. Statistical programs give participating IPC members access to global quarterly market data that would be impossible for them to collect themselves and prohibitively expensive for individual companies to obtain from research firms. Participating companies use this quarterly data in their marketing, sales, planning, and budgeting activities.
