Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking experienced Mission Control Systems engineers MCSE to support existing and future satellite missions operated by EUMETSAT. The MCSE performs tasks related to ensuring mission control operations during the satellite routine operations phase. The MCSE contributes to the maintenance, update, validation and documentation of missions control applications software. The position entails a significant level of responsibility and autonomy. Responsibilities As a member of the Mission Control Applications and Tools MCAT team at EUMETSAT, you will perform system engineering tasks in support of maintenance and evolution of EUMETSATs mission control systems software. Typical activities to be undertaken are Routine corrective maintenance tasks Support and follow up investigations into operational anomalies and software enhancements, implementations and testing of corrections Support routine system delivery verification, including coordinating the production of formal documentation such as release notes, verification procedures, verification test reports and, in general, contributing to the conduction and execution of verification tests Update and maintain a set of standard documents with each software delivery reflecting changes and enhancements made, with particular attention to the architectural design, interface control documents, user guides and any other identifiedaffected relevant document Support first or second line standbyoncall contributing to operations Review, update and maintain operational documentation covered by the maintenance activity Execution and coordination of software verification and nonregression testing campaigns. This activity includes preparation of test data, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports, and analysis of results and troubleshooting of problems Support to the endusers of the operational applications software Contribute to the preparation and provision of training material covering usage and maintenance aspects of the application software. Engineering evolution tasks Within the scope of the EUMETSAT Mission Control Systems reorganisation and evolution Actively contribute to the migration of subsystems to stateoftheart technologies, tradeoff studies of various technologies, software design of the technical solutions, following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes In the scope of migration of existing systems to new product baselines, actively contribute to the evaluation and identification of possible operational and engineering impacts affecting both operability and maintainability aspects Generation andor analysis of userdriven and maintenancedriven software requirements, generation of the corresponding engineering change proposals, software design of the technical solutions, following the procurement of the changes with external contractors and verification testing of the changes Development andor enhancement of the mission control systems verification infrastructure covering the development andor procurement of scriptstools to perform installation checks, nonregression, functional and performance testing. Analysis and implementation of mechanisms or tools allowing the automatic or semiautomatic verification testing of the application software Actively contribute to the definition, implementations and configuration of the MCAT Continuous Integration and Configuration Management tools and applications. This is a fulltime position to be located at EUMETSATs premises in Darmstadt with the planned start of July 2018 or earlier. Please note this position may entail standby support and callout support. Qualifications Competencies Applicants shall have a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline. Essential skills are At least 3 years indepth professional experience operating andor maintaining spacecraft monitoring and control systems based on SCOS2000 Experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of operational spacecraft mission control systems software Experience developing andor maintaining operational software systems based on a Linux operating system. Fluent written and spoken English Ability to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, able to work under pressure and with a minimum of supervision. A vacancy for a Digital Processor System Engineer has arisen within the Communication Processors Group based in Stevenage. The Processor Systems team is at the forefront of the development of digital signal processing payloads for telecommunications satellites, with work undertaken for a range of UK and international customers on a variety of exciting space projects. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. The responsibility of the group covers research and development of new digital processor products, manufacture and test of flight electronic equipment through to inorbit operational support. Our products form the heart of modern telecommunications satellite payloads, handling many thousands of channels and required to operate continuously and reliably, for many years, in the harsh environment of space. The main focus of the work undertaken by the team is the development of advanced communications and scientific satellite payloads employing state of the art digital processing techniques. Currently we are developing our 5th processor generation using new technologies to boost our capability at least tenfold. To achieve this we work closely with hardware engineers, ASIC FPGA designers, systems engineers and test engineers. In this role, you will have the opportunity to get involved in all phases from early concept through to delivering hardware and providing operational support. Key activities will include Concept feasibility and generation of new ideas. Development of digital processor architectural design and specification, flowing down from customer requirements.
