Mission Systems Engineer Science group

It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy for a Mission Systems Engineer Science group has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Stevenage. TechnicalSystems expert for future Space Science missions, as the successful applicant, you will be responsible for proposals, typically to ESA or other Agencies, and subsequent development of overall missionsystems design in feasibility studies for future space science and Earth Observation missions. You will take a leading role in these proposals and studies, and in the development of mission concepts and architectures. You will join a small team and be expected to develop overall business strategies within Airbus in relation to these missions, and define and lead associated RD activities. You will be responsible to identify potential innovative technical approaches and maintain balance with preferred customer solutions. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Generating new mission concepts System performance modelling Development of mission and spacecraft designs Leading and contributing to proposals Leading related RD activities and carrying out RD studies and developments Carrying out customer studies eg for ESA Bullet points to be used. This role will involve somefrequentextensive travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Educated to Master level or equivalent in Physics, Aerospace, Engineering or a related discipline and preferably graduated with a MSc or a PhD in relevant discipline. Experience of space mission, space craft or space instrument design is mandatory. Good written and oral presentation skills and good customer management ability are necessary. Problems solving skills and capacity to think at systems level and to solve complex issues are mandatory. An ability to lead a team and to be proactive is required. As the successful applicant you will support the system engineering managers with a target focused on Solar Orbiter CFI to module interfaces. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Requirements management and change impact analysis, including verification planning and tracking. Technical resource and performance budget management including some underlying analyses. System level Tradeoffs including both technical and programmatic factors, including costs. Interface management. Identifying dedicated analyses needs to ensure full engineering coverage to meet the requirements, formulating plans for approval and executing them within the team. Preparing progress reports of work performed, in both Word and PowerPoint styles. Presenting and communicating complex technical problems and solution approach to internal and external parties. Review of subcontractor documentation including design reports, analyses, tradeoffs, technical budgets, interface requirements and designs etc, including raising and coordination of RIDs at design reviews. Coordinating multiauthor documentation as book captain, including datapack generation planning and tracking. Generating own documentation including responsibility to progress through signature loop. Answering relevant customer RIDs at design reviews of Astrium work. Chairing and secretary tasks of meetings as required. Work package management. Work area management and associated planning and reporting. This role will involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Educated to first degree level or equivalent in Engineering, Science, Physics or related topic. A proven experience in system engineering and in space engineering is mandatory. Understanding of EMC, Cleanliness and electricalmechanical interface would be appreciated. Experience in and understanding of requirements engineering in DOORS. Knowhow project management processes meeting management, change management, action tracking is mandatory for the position. One of our Space clients is looking for an Electronics Hardware Engineer to work on Power Systems, this is a permanent role based in the UK. This is working of satellite systems. Key Purpose Project Engineering in the Power Systems Team Key Tasks Management and delivery of satellite power subsystem work packages. Responsibility for the modules throughout design, build, test to integration with the spacecraft and inorbit commissioning. Maintain performance, schedule and budget. Interface with internal and external customers. System subsystem level interfacing and tradeoffs. Circuit level design and simulation where required.
