Robert Beyster, who founded a small technology firm called Science Applications International Corp. and built it into one of the largest defense contractors in the United States, has died at age 90. Before it was spun off into two companies last year it had $11 billion in annual revenues and 44,000 employees. The current SAIC, based in Virginia, has 13,000 employees.

Mandan man driving loader dies in train collision

The North Dakota State Patrol says a 77-year-old Mandan man is dead after the loader he was operating collided with a freight train. The patrol says the man was operating the skid steer loader on a railroad crossing when he was struck by an eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train about 10 miles west of Mandan.
