PROFILE The Engineer shall have a University degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as computer science, physics, mathematics or remote sensing. The Engineer shall have 5 years of experience minimum in operational product generation from satelliteremote sensing data and experience in validation of geophysical products from satellite data. The Engineer shall have practical, demonstrable experience with Algorithm software development using FORTRAN 9095 in a Unix environment Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification Source code control systems, preferably Subversion Anomaly correction and configuration management processes Python and IDL programming languages Common meteorological data formats, like BUFR, CAP, GRIB, HDF5, and netCDF UnixLinux operating systems Practical, demonstrable experience of the following will be advantageous Relational databases using SQL Algorithm software development using CC programming language Authoring clear and concise technical documentation The Engineer shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision.
