Storing readings from 200,000 sensors, at a rate of up to one per second. A test cluster consisting of 6 servers is already in place, and assistance is needed to improve this cluster, optimize the configuration, understand any issues, and help to draft operational procedures in conjunction with the operation team in Chile. Another task will be assisting in finding the optimal schema to store the data in a flexible way. A secondary role would be to modify client code for accessing the data. Responsibilities Activities to be undertaken are Improve Cassandra Cluster, providing expertise in the configuration of a Cassandra cluster. Providing input into the purchasing decision of the final hardware for the cluster as well as a document about the optimal configuration of the final cluster. Provide operational procedures. Provide a document about common procedures to undertake in order to monitor the health of the cluster and keep it operating optimally. In addition the procedures must detail what to do in the event of failures, and how to recover in such situations without losing data. Assist in optimal schema design. Determining the best way to store the engineering data in the database.
