Job description For our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, we are seeking an experienced Software Engineer to support the activities related to the engineering and maintenance of the EUMETSAT Long Term Archive facility, as a member of the Data Services Engineering Team of the Generic Systems and Infrastructure Division at EUMETSAT. Responsibilities The tasks and responsibilities of the Long Term Archive Software Engineer will include Gathering requirements, design, implementation, testing, software configuration, maintenance of documentation for the EUMETSAT Long Term Archive developed software and related commercial off the shelf software COTS, throughout the entire software life cycle Investigation into anomalies, their documentation, classification and the delivery of SW correction, including the execution of relevant regression testing 2nd line support for the EUMETSAT Long Term Archive and the related communication and interaction with other teams at EUMETSAT Software configuration management, release preparation and deployment of software corrections This is a fulltime position located at EUMETSATs premises in Darmstadt, Germany. The start date is December 1st, 2015. DUTIES The Software Product Assurance Engineer will initially be assigned as integrated support to the EGNOS Project, reporting to the Head of the EGNOS PA Safety Unit for projectspecific responsibilities. For maintaining professional standards, contributions to corporate tasks reviews, standardisation, alerts, lessons learned, etc. and implementing ESAs general PA policy, the postholder will report to the Head of Department. Training and familiarisation with the Departments mandate, processes and procedures will therefore be provided at the start of the integrated support assignment. Specific responsibilities and tasks will include supporting the Project in establishing and monitoring EGNOSspecific software PA requirements, in relation to ESA standards, EGNOS specifications and applicable European Commission, Document and European Aviation Safety Agency regulationsstandards evaluating contractors plans, technical specifications and efforts proposed to execute development and qualification of software developed or used under the EGNOS programme monitoring the performance of the contractors Software Product Assurance programmes to ensure compliance with SPA requirements established for projects evaluating proposed concepts, designs and operations for compliance with defined SPA requirements performing audits of contractors and their inhouse standards for compliance with ESA requirements and assessing maturity of their software processes liaising with software engineering on related matters coordinating with dependabilitysafety engineers to assess implementation of corresponding recommendations within the software participating in the nonconformance management process for software supporting the Head of Unit in following up subsystem reviews, particularly for the qualification status of software supporting the Safety Engineer in controlling implementation of the software safety assurance system participating in project reviews to assess compliance with applicable requirements and formulate acceptreject recommendations participating in periodic meetings with the parent section, contributing to the transfer of technical knowledge and lessons learned across the Agency. These tasks require interaction with the EGNOS prime contractor and developing subcontractors, the European GNSS Agency GSA and the EGNOS Service Provider. Duties will also include supporting the system engineers within the postholders area of expertise. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in software engineering, with substantial experience in software product assurance in the aerospace or comparable fields, preferably on softwareintensive safetycritical systems. Knowledge and experience of ECSS software engineering, software PA and civil aviation standards DO178BC, DO278 are also required. Familiarity with GNSS and EGNOS would be a clear advantage, as would experience with software certification processes. Candidates should have good interpersonal and communication skills, being able to work effectively, autonomously and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment, defining and implementing solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines. They should have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills, a proactive attitude to problemsolving and an interest in innovative technologies. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. The location of the initial assignment being the ESA Office in Toulouse, a good knowledge of both these languages is required. One of our Space Clients in Germany is looking for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer. This is a Consultancy Support position. The role would ideally suit a contractor looking for a long term consultancy role within the space industry. The submission deadline for applicants is September 21st 2015. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Compile, via dedicated workshops, the current information about TSS SW development and maintenance activities. Generate a proposed SW Quality Model based on SQUALE or equivalent. The model shall allow tailoring for the different SW applications based on their SW quality characteristics. Based on the derived SW quality model design, install, configure and maintain a system based on SonarQube or equivalent for extracting quality metrics and indicators, and generate reports about the SW Quality. The system shall include all necessary plugins and tools to support the SW quality analysis of the main languages used in TSS SW developmentsapplications i.e. CC, Java FORTRAN. A virtual machine will be provided for hosting the system. Define a general testing strategy for the system being able to extract testing quality metrics from the TSS SW developments and applications. Evaluate and propose a tool or a set of tools for checking SW with a special focus on licensing issues e.g. contamination due to use of GPL licenses, preferable to be integrated within the system described in task 2. Support in the definition of possible manual metrics, not directly derived from source code, to better characterise the analysed code and to be included in the system. Static code analysis for different languages. Versioning systems, especially SVN and GIT. Automated Testing, Continuous Integration, Deployment and Delivery. Documentation of SW applications. Qualifications University degree in a relevant discipline. Good English skills are essential.
