A vacancy has arisen for an AIT Quality Assurance Engineer with Astrium in Portsmouth. The successful applicant will have to.. Perform Quality Assurance activities, by the implementation of procedures and processes, to ensure product quality meets the stated requirements Manage completion of corrective actions to closure Promote good practice and improvements in Payload Mechanical Assembly processes Deliver Payload in a satisfactory condition for test Deliver Payload in a satisfactory condition for flight Internal External Relationships Internal Responsible to the Payload Mechanical Assembly Quality Leader Portsmouth Work in the Payload Mechanical Assembly environment with AIT Payload Mechanical Assembly Manager and team Work with the Production Support Manager and team to ensure product quality Work with the AIT Project Manager to provide inputs to reviews Liaise with associated business specialists such as Parts, Materials Processes, Reliability and CADM External Work in a Payload team environment with the Project Product Assurance Manager Personal interface with supplier and customer representatives on quality issues as directed by the AIT Quality Manager, Portsmouth Quality Surveillance Plans Safety Reviews FMEA Risk Reviews Quality Assurance Inputs to Payload Structures Handover meetings Work Rework Instruction approval Quality Assurance during mechanical assembly activities Quality of MGSE and EGSE used during mechanical assembly activities Process audits on Payload activities Payload Critical moves Quality Assurance Inputs to Payload Project gate reviews IRR, TRR DRB Payload Occurrence and NonConformance management to Closure 1 level Quality Assurance Inputs to Payload Handover Payload Key Inspection Point activities Quality Assurance post delivery support Communicate, operate and influence at all levels up to senior management, internally and externally Good team worker with strong interpersonal and persuasive skills Produce concise management reports, presentations, minutes and actions, generally using Microsoft Office tools User and promoter of quality tools and methods, particularly risk management and metrics. Ability to accomplish validation activities using above ground support structures Agility to access and work in confined spaces and varying orientations Good visual acumen Flexibility to travel within the UK and Europe when required Willingness to work on shift or offsite for short periods when required Experience anticipated Strong Quality Assurance background, with practical knowledge of implemented Quality Systems Work within an electricalelectronic Engineering environment Practiced in QA discipline, working in a design and development environment Responsible for product quality, performance and acceptance aspects, through full product lifecycle phases Understanding of Supplier Assessment against ISO, ECSS and ESA applicable standards and methodologies relating to scope of work Degree or HNDHNC in a relevant discipline, or indepth knowledge of quality assurance applied to product development Understanding of ESA Space Quality Assurance Requirements Appreciation of Software Quality Assurance, ISO 12207 and TickIT TO APPLY click here

A Software Quality Engineer Vacancy has arisen with Astrium in Stevenage. The Software Quality Engineer SQE will be responsible for ensuring that the software project products and processes are performed in accordance with the plans and applicable standards, on behalf of the Project Manager. Typical tasks include Definition of the quality objectives and the Project Software Quality Assurance Baseline, producing the applicable Software Quality Assurance Plan, Project Standards and Quality Operational Procedures. Supporting the Software Project Manager in the definition and the implementation of the overall software project processes, in the definition of the development logic and in the choice of methods and tools to be used. Assessment of the Software Processes and the quality of the various items of the Software Product through quality inspections, reviews, audits, collection and analysis of metrics. Chair andor support reviews e.g. PDR, CDR, TRR, TRB, DRB. Approval of all documentation. Assessment and reporting on the quality of the Software Product and Processes, in periodic reports through the MPRs and in the specific reports allocated to the Reviews. Management of the interface with the internal andor external customer on the Software Quality matters, in agreement with the Project Manager. By hisher knowledge of the processes implemented in the software project, hisher global approach and analysis capabilities, the SQE is a key actor in the processes improvement, by suggesting improvement actions and participating to their implementation within the project, as much at project level than at entity level. The successful applicant will have the following skills and competencies Strong Software Quality Assurance and Software Configuration Management Processes andor engineering background adhering to formal standards in particular ECSSE40 and ECSSQ80. Exposure to realtime, embedded, missioncritical software space or aerospace desirable. Conversant with the requirements of ISO 9001 familiarity with CMMI. Good knowledge and practical experience of the estimate and the financial monitoring of the tasks to be achieved. Interpersonal relational and organisational skills. Excellent communication written verbal and training capability. Capability to convince. Diplomacy, negotiation capability. Customer focus and service oriented.
