For the location in Darmstadt Germany we are looking for a Data Processing Image Quality Assessment Engineer at EUMETSAT. Tasks The Key person shall work as a member of the Image Quality Assessment Team supporting the mediumterm and longterm monitoring, operation and further development of Level 1 data processing systems. The Key person shall support the quality assessment and validation of the Level 1 image products for current and future GEO missions but will also provide support to current and future LEO missions in this area. The tasks of the Key person will be carried out mainly at EUMETSAT facilities in Darmstadt, but travel within Europe may be required for certain activities. The tasks of the Key person will typically include Monitoring the mediumterm to longterm performance of Level 1 data processing systems, including the performance of their algorithms, and monitoring the quality of the generated Level 1 image products Developing and maintaining image quality assessment software, including the specification, verification and validation testing of software developments Supporting the further development of the MSG Level 1 data processing system, including the specification, verification and validation testing of system updates Supporting the investigation and correction of anomalies related to the performance of the MSGMTP Level 1 data processing systems Supporting the preparations for future GEO and LEO missions in the area of image quality assessment Attendance at technical meetings Participation in formal reviews. Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have Extensive theoretical knowledge of Level 1 data processing algorithms for image navigation, registration and calibration and the techniques used for assessing the geometric and radiometric quality of Level 1 image products A minimum of 3 years experience in specifying, prototyping, verifying and validating Level 1 data processing algorithms A minimum of 3 years experience in the processing and analysis of data from imaging andor sounding instruments on remote sensing spacecraft Significant experience of validating remote sensing products and complex remote sensing data processing systems. Software engineering, in particular in algorithm software development, in a Unix environment using CC, and ideally also Python and MatlabIDL Implementation of scientific algorithms from a given specification. For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for an Image Quality Assessment Engineer to work as a member of the Image Quality Assessment Team of INRC Image Navigation, Registration and Calibration supporting the mediumterm and longterm monitoring, operation and further development of Level 1 data processing systems. The key person shall support the quality assessment and validation of the Level 1 image products for current and future GEO missions but will also provide support to current and future LEO missions in this area. Moreover, heshe shall support the development and maintenance of monitoring software for Level 1 image quality assessment as well as support the software maintenance of the operational Meteosat Second Generation Level 1 data processing systems. This includes a significant contribution to and active participation in verification and validation test activities. In addition, the key person shall also support the operations preparations for future MSG spacecraft and may be required to support the development activities for the MTG Meteosat Third Generation and EPS Second Generation missions. The activity is assumed, as a baseline, to require the fulltime participation of a Key person for the duration of the contract. We have an opportunity at the European Space Agency in the Netherlands for an experienced Components Quality Engineer. The Company The current team consist of 4 people working together on qualifying several components to be used in spacecrafts. These include Passive components Discrete Semiconductors for RF and nonRF Complex Microcircuits for Analog, Digital, Mixed Signal and Microwave Hybrid Technology Micropackaging Optoelectronics and Micro and Nanosystems. These analyses are performed for two reasons In order to assure the physical and mechanical qualities of components or To investigate failures. These failures may be single errors in manufacturing, design errors, systematic failures, etc. All activities are performed according to the Quality Standards for Spacecrafts, ECSS. Job Description In this job, you are responsible for analysis and approval of Components used in Spacecraft. Analysis and diagnosis are done either in a destructive chemical e.g. acid, or mechanical e.g. grinding or nondestructive e.g. XRay. Other tests include electrical testing on integrated circuits and leak testing. As an engineer, you set up and develop the tests, interpret the outcome and give advice on the components. Specific tasks Provide expertise in the field of Passive Components, Discrete Semiconductors for RF and nonRF, Complex Microcircuits for Digital, Analog, Mixed Signal and Microwave, Hybrid Technology, Micropackaging, Optoelectronics and Micro NanoSystems proficiency in at least 4 out of the previous 12 categories is required. Carry out Failure Analysis tasks and other analysis tasks as required. Prepare reports on the analysis tasks as required. Support and advice concerning the performance of analysis tasks subcontracted to external laboratories. Provide related technical support on EEE components to ESA projects and other DTEC divisions in the area of hybrid technology. Provide technical assistance in the definition and to the management of ESA Technology programmes in the field of hybrid technology. Provide technical input to the formulation, review and maintenance of the technical standards and specifications relating to the evaluation and capability approval of hybrid manufacturers. Provide technical assistance in the formulation and monitoring of Capability Approval programmes for hybrid manufacturers. Support ISO certification activities.
