Manager, Business Applications Ref SES0752 Region Europe Location Luxembourg Betzdorf Company SES Category IT Software Development Position Management Published 20160308 Context We are looking for a Manager, Business Applications, responsible for the management of the Web and Messaging and Collaboration Applications team based in Luxembourg and the support of all SES applications under the teams responsibility. This position manages SESs application implementation projects as well as the ongoing support of the applications in the Applications portfolio. This involves managing both internal and external resources including relationships with third party service providers. Responsibilities . Exploit and make recommendations to the optimisation of the Application portfolio . Translate the strategy into development plans for the business applications team . Rationalise our existing application portfolio by looking to combine like systems across sites where appropriate . Direct the teams development and implementation plans to ensure that its activities are in line with strategic direction and that agreed targets are achieved . Deploy development methodologies based on existing frameworks to drive process and operational excellence . Maintain a rigorous application management regime ensuring that all applications are documented, run on supported software, are secure, and where necessary compliant with regulatory bodies and architectural standards . Define performance measures for the team and monitor progress against targets . Build and constantly strengthen a culture of customer service and excellence within the team . Introduce methodologies, processes and tools to increase the productivity, reliability and predictability of software development projects . Participate in the analysis of business opportunities to ensure that the appropriate IT opportunities are identified . Ensure that all systems selected or developed comply with prevailing security standards and Information Security policies . Liaise with other individuals or joint usersystem teams to ensure that crossapplication requirement specifications are compatible with overall business needs and that they can be integrated . Manage third party supplier relationships consultants and application suppliers when assessing systems requirements and ensure that SESs requirements are clearly communicated . Ensure that suppliers make clear commitments to the stated requirements. Monitor their performance throughout the duration of the project to ensure that they deliver quality systems that meet SESs project requirements . Manage the expectations of all relevant users and ensure that the new systems are implemented without major disruption to the businesses . Support the definition, creation and maintenance of an Applications portfolio . Manage and measure the support for applications during and after implementation including the resolution of all problems associated with their successful operation Experience Qualifications . Minimum five years of operational, financial, strategy and organisational management experience Bachelor degree in information technology or similar . Sound technical understanding of the IT landscape and related technical skills as well as its business application . Specifically experience with Web and Messaging and collocation Experience with all stages of the software life cycle . Thorough understanding of Operational Principles . Experience in procurement activities, supplier negotiations combined with good negotiation skills . Fluency in written and spoken English. French, German and Luxembourgish are also an asset . Proven people and team management skills . Understanding of financial aspects for budgetary and planning purposes . Ability to work internationally in a matrixmanaged, resultsoriented environment . Ability to tackle complex projects and develop workable solutions in pressure situations . Ability to interpret complex technical issues and communicate the business value of IT standards and structured approach . Strong analytical skills and broad business acumen, market and Industry Awareness . Excellent communications skills, both written and oral . High level design skills as well as technical analysis and evaluation .
