Responsibilities Duties Support the definition of PA requirements and plans, ensure the implementation of agreed procedures, monitor and review the execution of the PA Plan Participate to software product evaluations and process assessments Participate to project reviews, meetings, and Software Review Boards Review the Software Quality Assurance Plan issued for the subsystems Witness the provisional and final acceptance tests in order to recommend the formal release of software for operational use Monitor and review PA and quality related documentation and records maintained Facilitate the implementation of risk management within the project team Prepare and maintain the configuration management plan Qualifications Experience Masters degree in software engineering or computer science with background on space 10 years of relevant professional work experience Familiarity with space product assurance practices together with a good working knowledge of appropriate working tools Practical experience in applying ECSS SW standards Knowledge and proven experience in the configuration management of complex systems and software engineering and PA in critical applications Essential Skills Ability to participate and chair meetings with multinational environment Ability to work in a matrix oriented organization reporting to both project PA responsible and the functional PA organization without continuous supervision Team player Good interpersonal and communication skills Good written and oral English

Tasks The key person will have the following main tasks Participating to project reviews, meetings, and Software Review Boards Preparing design tradeoffs, analyses and reports using metrics to support project decisions Participating to software product evaluations and process assessments Monitoring the execution of the PA Plan Assisting the Ground SegmentProject Manager in the identification and resolution of problems with respect to Quality Ensuring support the definition of PA requirements and plans in accordance with Directorate policies and to ensure the implementation of agreed procedures Reviewing the tailoring measures of applicable standards reflected in the Software Project Management Plan Reviewing the Software Quality Assurance Plan issued for the subsystems Witnessing the provisional and final acceptance tests in order to recommend the formal release of software for operational use Monitoring that all PA documentation and records related to the contracted work are maintained Performing, where required project internal and suppliers quality audits relating to the scope of the project Identifying and help to resolve problems that may represent an unacceptable risk to Product Quality Attending Review Boards as applicable Organizing the review and approval of project quality related documentation Reviewing and approval of changes to project quality related documentation Facilitating the implementation of risk management within the project team Contributing to the disposition of nonconformances, anomalies and problems Defining the composition, call and chair the Nonconformance Review Board NRB Initiating the marking, segregation as applicable and further treatment of failed items Ensuring the proper filing and documentation process of NCRs Initiating the nonconformance correction Performing the closeout procedure of the NCRs Managing, update and issue the Configuration Item Status Report Maintaining a configuration management database with change report mechanisms being put in place essential during system freeze Ensuring that there is a good configuration control mechanism being followed in all software hardware being used and monitoring the applicable subcontractorssubsystems and Ground Stations to ensure these practices are being followed Preparing and maintaining the configuration management plan. Qualifications and Requirements Masters degree in software engineering or computer science with background on space engineering 10 years of relevant professional work experience Familiarity with space product assurance practices together with a good working knowledge of appropriate working tools Practical experience in applying ECSS SW standards. Knowledge and proven experience in the following areas o Configuration management of complex systems o Software engineering and PA in critical applications. Overall Purpose of the Job Product Assurance to support the delivery of space system hardware programmes and to support the quality requirements of the Space UK business Key Accountabilities The coordination and monitoring of quality control activities relating to space hardware assembly, integration and testing, to ensure that products comply with defined standards and that customer product specifications are met.
