Earth Observation System Engineer

We are looking for a university graduate in engineering, with at least 5 years experience in Earth Observation Spacecraft Systems engineering. The successful candidate will support our customer in system design engineering and architecture definition of LEO programmes. Responsibilities Duties The candidate will carry out tasks which support activities typically related to Phase BC of a space programme in the area of system design engineering and architecture definition. The candidate will work within the Sentinel6JasonCS project, with potential support to other LEO programmes. The candidate will perform system engineering activities such as Requirements engineering, which consists in requirement analysis and validation, requirement allocation, and requirement maintenance Functional analysis and architecture design applying system modelling engineering methods and techniques Subsegment components specification Interface and data structures and flows definition Design, build and configuration which results in a physical architecture, described by its complete functional, physical and software characteristics System analysis, which is performed for the purpose of resolving requirements conflicts, decomposing and allocating requirements, assessing system effectiveness Performance of trade studies for assessing effectiveness, risk, cost and planning. In the performance of these tasks, the Key person shall apply the EUMETSAT configuration and change control procedures as well as the relevant system engineering standards, quality management procedures and maintenance procedures. Qualifications Experience In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the successful candidate shall have at least 5 years experience in Earth Observation Spacecraft Systems engineering. Essential Skills The candidate shall be able to demonstrate experience in Extensive System Engineering life cycle experience for the development of remote sensing and Earth observation systems At least 5 years demonstrated experience in the field of systems engineering and architectural design ISO, Software development, and Space and Ground System engineering processes and standards. Experience in Model Based System engineering methods, techniques and tools Experience in the use of modelling and design tools in support of architectural design activities e.g. CORE Desirable Skills It would be a distinct advantage to have experience in the following Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS Good knowledge of at least 2 of the following and an overview of the others Networking Communications, Ground Stations, Near RealTime Data Processing, Monitoring and control of satellites, Monitoring and control of ground systems Data communication networks and protocols. Requirements Applicants should have a university degree or equivalent qualification in physics, engineering or a relevant Earth sciencesdiscipline. This post requires extensive professional experience on product definition, archiving and distribution, algorithm development, quality assessment and exploitation of Earth Observation data, particularly ESA missions. an established profile of dialoguing the with EO research communities in disciplines relevant for climate.
