We are looking to further enhance our team by adding a Satellite Platform Operations Engineer You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Your Tasks The Engineer will provide service to the Meteosat Spacecraft Operations Team. The tasks in the area of SC platform routine operations and operations preparation will typically include Familiarisation with the MSG satellite design and operations procedures as necessary Contribution to the conduct of routine operations of the inorbit MSG spacecraft. Provision of Satellite Operations Engineer oncall service Performance evaluation and trend analysis to monitor the inflight behaviour of the spacecraft, including support to yearly and specific operations reviews e.g. eclipses, reconditioning, manoeuvres, decontamination, etc Contribute for both current and future missions to the production and maintenance of Automated and Manual procedures, Operational databases Special Operations Instructions SOIs, Other operational documentation e.g. SOE Guide, Contingency Operations Guide etc. Contribution to the maintenance of the MSG Flight Operation Manual Contribution of SubSystem expertise for the Satellite Simulator maintenance and engineering for current and future missions Contribution to the satellite monitoring and control facility operations team and maintenance team to ensure that the facility, including the telemetry analysis tools, is always fit for its purpose Participation to the activities related to the MSG Routine Operations Support provided by the MSG satellites manufacturer Analysis and investigation of operational events and anomalies particularly relating to the operations of the MSG Spacecraft and associated ground segment elements Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary Participation in the preparation and specification of ground system updates including the MC systems and monitoring analysis tools Preparation and review of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings and reviews Preparation presentation of Flight Ops Team training material regarding SC Operations. Contribution to the MTG system operations development for SC operations related topics. Contribution to the implementation, test and reviews of the different operations related elements of the MTG system including satellites and ground segments. Contribution to the MTG operations preparations activities, mainly at Space Segment level but including also Ground Segment aspects. Participation to the preparation and execution of the Operational System Validation activities also including SVTs, rehearsals and the necessary training activities for the various operations personnel prior to system commissioning. Contribute to the definition andor review of MTG commissioning activities. Your Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the key person shall have proven experience of spacecraft operations. Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the key persons to have experience with some of the following Operations andor design of satellite Payload for earth observations. Operations preparation of a satellite project. Routine spacecraft operations for Geostationary missions The key person shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, demonstrating analytical approach and attention to detail and shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work without supervision. Responsibilities Duties Support the routine operations of the Sentinel 3A and 3B satellites. Provision of operational expertise to the relevant system andor platform and instrument. Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures. Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments. Identification and support to the implementation of system and process improvements concerning the spacecraft operations team responsibilities. Several years of experience working in the operations preparation and routine operations of satellite mission control systems for LEO satellite systems. Experience in the operation and development of satellite ground segment facilities. Several years of experience operating a spacecraft mission control system based on SCOS2000 Essential Skills Experience in the specification of system and operational concepts. Familiarity with OnBoard Control Procedures and OnBoard Position Scheduler concepts. Desirable Skills Experience or familiarity with the Sentinel3 mission is an advantage. For our location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for a Satellite Operations Engineer for Sentinel to work at EUMETSAT. Tasks The Sentinel3 mission is devoted to operational oceanography and global land application, thanks to its payload composed of a set of optical and microwave instruments to measure variables such as seasurface topography, sea and landsurface temperature, ocean colour and land colour with highend accuracy and reliability. The SOE Team will provide service to the Sentinel Spacecraft Operations Team, led by the Copernicus Sentinel Spacecraft Operations Managers, within the Flight Operations Division of the Operations and User Services Department. During the execution of the contract, the Copernicus Satellite Operations Engineering Team shall be involved in the operations of all Sentinel 3 and 6 spacecraft, and all related ground segment and operational services, in the various operational scenarios including S3ABC and S6AB in either routine, operational scenario testing, or commissioning. The Copernicus Satellite Operations Engineering Team shall contribute to Prepare for, and execute all relevant Copernicus Sentinel routine operations in a SCOS2000 environment, as well as preparing for the recurrent satellite handover activities Perform the maintenance, validation and documentation of the space segment assets update Interface with all other flight operations teams such as the MCS, mission planning, FDF, but also with external operational entities or services Operate all satellite and FOSPDGSPDAB components aspects related to operations engineering for the platform, payload and instrument, including data handling, Instrument parameter, OBSW maintenance, as well as FDIR and OPS security aspects Plan and schedule the satellite operations in coordination with the others teams Continuous monitoring of Spacecraft performance and status Participate to anomaly investigation and resolution Reporting and analysis of the satellite system performance Proficiency training of the Engineers using the space and ground segment simulators Ensure the oncall operations engineer rota, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 247 basis. Interactions with mission planning, controller teams, ground segment system operations teams, Identification and preparation of procedure updates required for the operations of A and B satellite Participate to the team shift, and oncall operations engineer rota, such that safe and efficient operations are ensured by the Spacecraft Operations Team on a 247 basis Contribute as required to dual satellite operations build up Participate to CHART project development, encompassing The coordination of additional routine update requests for CHART reports from FCT members The updates to weekly CHART report in line with L1 performance teport template The coordination and implementation of CHART reporting widgets as requested by FCT members The review of CHART documentation, e.g. database structure and ingestion definition Contribute to update of CHART maintenance guide from FCT user perspective. Essential requirements In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have experience in at least two of the following madatory skills Experience of Spacecraft Operations on Low Earth Orbit LEO, 3axis stabilised spacecraft with responsibility for one or more platform subsystems or instruments during operational validation, commissioning or routine operations phases Experience of SCOS2000 mission control system and use of the MOIS operations preparation tool Experience in satellite performance monitoring and reporting aspects including anomaly analysis and solving in liaison with satellite industry, procedure change control and configuration management processes Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities.
