We are currently looking for a Telecommunications Satellite Payload Engineer to support our customer in the United Kingdom. Telecommunications Satellite Payload Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities The candidate will support the management of activities devoted to the development of payload technologies and products for telecommunications satellites at ECSAT. As part of the team, you will have the following responsibilities Support the initiation of activities related to technology and product development for payload applications Support the establishment and control of relevant ESAs requirements, specifications and general documentation Evaluation, support to negotiation, monitoring and control of development contracts and activities Contribute to the preparation of technology and product development work plans Preparation of inputs to status reports Monitor market and technology trends and developments in the area of satellite communication Cooperate with specialists in other ESAs departments Identify any issues during the procurement phase, the running or closing of an activity, and flag them for attention in a timely manner. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Master or PhD degree or equivalent in engineering Many years experience in payload technology and products for telecommunication satellites Experience with the design, analysis, qualification, testing and implementation of satellite payload equipment for telecommunication satellites Substantial experience in one or more of the following Management of development contracts for satellite payload equipment. Design, development andor exploitation of antenna and RF units, such as Low noise amplifiers, Channel amplifiers and linearisers, Power amplifiers, Frequency converters, Digital signal processors Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage. The post holder will report to the Bepi Colombo AIT Manager. The incumbent duties will require a close cooperation with the Bepi Colombo project team members in the relevant engineering, AIT and Product Assurance disciplines. The work will be performed at the European Space Research and Technology Centre ESTEC in Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Tasks and Responsibilities In particular the tasks include Monitoring of the Bepi Colombo AIT industrial activities at Instrument, Platform and Satellite levels in terms of their technical and programmatic compatibility with the project requirements, leading to the qualification and flight acceptance of the satellite. Support for the detailed test planning and test configuration consistency. Monitoring of the Platform and Satellite electrical integration and functional and performance tests by reviewing the test documentation including test plans, test specifications, test procedures and test reports. Monitoring the preparation and execution of the functional tests and abbreviated functional checks executed in the frame of the environmental tests mechanical, thermal and EMC. Participate to the test reviews including TRRs, PTRs and TRBs, support the AITGSE related MRBsNRBs, and support the major Bepi Colombo Instrument and Satellite reviews. Support to the review of qualification and acceptance Verification Control Documents. Actively support the identification of problem areas and faults and participate to their effective diagnosis and resolution. Monitor the preparation of the Satellite and test activities to be executed during the Launch campaign. Support during the System formal reviews FAR, QAR. RIDs issuing and follow on. Qualifications and Experience The applicants should have A Master Degree in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering. Four years of professional Experience, including in functional AIT of spacecraft are mandatory. Good experience in System AIT and functional testing. A proven ability to work in a project team with a sense of cooperation and negotiation with colleagues at ESA or within Industry. The function will require availability of the incumbent to witness tests and to participate to AIT activities for relative long periods abroad, up to several months in the case of the satellite launch campaign. The incumbent will be required to demonstrate good technical understanding and analytic skills for industry provided documentation and information. Furthermore we are looking for someone with the experience of Taking into account the status of the project, knowledge of the Bepi Colombo spacecraft. What Do We Offer?
