Tennessee Valley Authority nears first large-scale solar buy

The TVA Board on Thursday voted to authorize CEO Bill Johnson to enter into a 20-year contract with NextEra Energy for an 80 megawatt solar facility in northern Alabama that officials said offers the most competitive solar pricing they have seen. The facility will be built near TVA's Colbert Fossil Plant, which TVA is retiring in 2016.

Trina Solar signs agreement with investors for 500-1,000MW solar PV developments in China

Chinese solar manufacturer Trina Solar has signed a framework investment agreement with PingAn Trust and Jiangsu Jiuzhou Investment Group to develop photovoltaic (PV) power plants in China over the next three years, totalling 500MW to 1,000MW.

TEP Solar Array at Fort Huachuca Helps U.S. Army Achieve Energy Goals

Tucson Electric Power , an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Fortis Inc. , joined military and federal officials to dedicate a large solar array at Fort Huachuca that will help the U.S. Army achieve its renewable energy and energy security goals. The 17.2 megawatt array, completed in December, produces enough power to satisfy one-quarter of the base's energy needs, equivalent to the annual electric usage of about 3,000 homes.
