MTS improves revenues, margins in Q4, sees stable 2018

(Telecompaper) Revenues of Russia's MTS Group totaled RUB 116.8 billion in the fourth quarter of 2017, up by 1.7 percent year-on-year. Adjusted OIBDA grew by 6.2 percent to RUB 45.2 billion, and the OIBDA margin was 40.6 percent. Net profit dropped by 12.0 percent to RUB 10.9 billion.

Facebook starts forensic audit of CA data as UK privacy regulator steps in

(Telecompaper) Facebook announced it's hired forensic auditors to investigate whether Cambridge Analytica still holds data collected on Facebook users. However, an initial visit to CA was suspended after the UK Information Commissioner's Office ordered the company to stand down while it collects its own evidence.

Dutch Mobile Operators 2017-Q4

This latest report from Telecompaper's continued research into developments in the Dutch communication services market looks at the leading Dutch mobile network operators: KPN, Vodafone, T-Mobile including Tele2 and the rest of MVNO market. It analyses fourth quarter and full year 2017 results, both revenue and subscriber base, and compares the findings with results in the previous quarters and years. The report provides splits at different levels, from postpaid to prepaid but also from a network operator to retail point of view. Additionally it also includes a five-year forecast (both network operator service revenue and mobile SIMs) for the Dutch market.

Last week in telecoms: Vodafone and Orange drag on index, biggest losses at Iliad and MegaFon

(Telecompaper) Two stocks stood out last week for being hit very hard: Iliad (-13%) and MegaFon (-15%). Iliad's results worried investors, as its internationalisation to Italy and Ireland appears to be on track. MegaFon also dropped on Q4 results. The best performing stocks were mobile operator Turkcell (+4.2%), after results and an upwards revision of its guidance, satellite operator SES (+4.7%) and data centre operator Equinix (+6.3%). Microcaps QSC (+4.4%) and CityFibre (+4.5%) also had a strong week.
