This is an exciting opportunity to work with our user communities sharing your knowledge and experience to develop operational applications using our marine products and services. EUMETSAT is Europes meteorological satellite agency. Bringing together the resources of 30 member states, we observe the atmosphere and oceans from space using a system of satellites 365 days a year. Our data is vital for weather forecasts that help to protect lives and property, as well as monitoring the environment and our changing climate. Our Marine Applications Competence Area MACA is responsible for the scientific development, maintenance, validation and quality monitoring of marine and ocean products extracted from satellite instrument chains. This influential role, Martine Applications Competence Area Manager, provides a great opportunity for an established remote sensing expert to manage the MACA team and its resources and to lead the development of the scientific knowledge required to support the exploitation and evolution of EUMETSAT and Copernicus instrument chains. The ideal candidate is an experienced scientist who is an expert in the remote sensing and processing of data from relevant spacebourne marine remote sensing missions, preferably in an operational 247 environment. With experience of calibrating marine remote sensing instruments, developing and coding operational remote sensing software, you can initiate and lead relevant scientific studies. You must be a team player, with the ability to collaborate with your colleagues and our international partners. You must have strong analytical skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to our user communities. Experience of writing scientific and technical documents is an advantage, along with a familiarity of the Copernicus Programme. We offer a competitive salary, benefits and a great working environment. You must be able to work effectively in English and have a working knowledge of French.
