Senior Satellite Systems Engineer Ref SES0456 Region Europe Location Luxembourg Betzdorf Company SES Category Space Engineering Position Senior Management Context In this position you will be part of SES Techcom Services and will provide technology and implementation lead for projects related to the development, implementation, and improvement of satellite based transmission services and systems. In cooperation with internal and external partners, you will develop technical and business solutions. Key activities include customer requirements collection, engineering of communications systems, preparation of and or contributions to request for proposals, studies, reports, specifications, contractual documentation and operational guidelines, leading of multidisciplinary project teams. You will also be leading technology product development for PaCoRa family of products. Responsibilities Design and implement next generation innovative systems for passive ranging PaCoRa and satellite interference geolocation for satellite constellations including their interface to orbital determination software and databases and required supplementary tools Design and implement satellite transmit and receive stations, comprised of communication systems and software systems and whenever applicable, their interfaces to other ground stations Perform transmission analysis, in particular link budget calculations, and studies in support of business development, customer services Provide consultancy and mentoring for other engineers in SES TechCom In close cooperation with the Sales participate in exhibitions, SES TechCom product presentations and presales activities Deliver conceptual endtoend system design of innovative satellite networks andor network elements and development of associated specifications Prepare commercial documentation such as system requirements specifications, technical system specifications, and contractual documents in coordination and cooperation with other internal and external parties Attract contracts by managing or supporting customer requests for proposal RFP, comprised of activities such proposal team set up and management, technical and financial proposal preparation, and contract negotiation Demonstrate awareness of relevant technological developments, market trends, competitive factors, customer requirements, standardisation licensing and regulatory aspects and evaluate them if required Travel as required to meet customers and vendors and attend exhibitions, conferences, working group meetings Support the yearly preparation of SES TechCom budgetsDeliver products, services, systems to customers within budget, specification and on time Successful implementation of complex communication systems at customer premises Delivery of solutions within given boundaries such as schedule and budget Successful customer satisfaction and buildup of relationship. ExperiencesQualifications University diploma in telecommunications or related field min. 5 years of applicable professional experiences in one or more of following domains radio communications engineering, electricalelectronic engineering, satellite engineering, system engineering and simulations Excellent analytical skills, innovative spirit, business mind, result orientation, ability to provide practical conclusions Technical leadership focusing on system design and integrity throughout system lifecycle Excellent internal and external communication skills as well as teamspirit. Profound project management skills Ability to work effectively independent as well as in interdisciplinary teams Conflict management skills in a multicultural and interdisciplinary setup Fluency in English plus at least one other European language Computer literacy MS Office, AutoCAD, Matlab Effective project and time management. This position, based near Frankfurt in Germany, is for a consultant with at least 3 years experience of design, development and integration of operational ground systems and experience of Earth observation processing systems. Our client is responsible for establishing and operating weather forecasting and Earth observation satellite programmes with associated data telemetry and dissemination operations. This role will be responsible for system engineering tasks, including definition and integration of the data handling and product processing systems.
