Space Operations Engineer at the Galileo Control Center Oberpfaffenhofen Your Mission DLR GfR mbH is a company of the German Aerospace Center DLR. Since 2008 we conduct and operate space projects with focus on satellitebased navigation under industrial conditions. Under a contract with the European Commission and the European Space Agency, DLR GfR has the core task to operate the Galileo Control Center in Oberpfaffenhofen. Our special focus is to provide reliable, safe and secure operations services being fundamental for the provision of stable and accurate navigation services. Since the first launch of two Galileo satellites in October 2011, the DLR GfR team is responsible for the spacecraft operations of the Galileo constellation. A second pair of Galileo satellites has been successfully launched in October 2012. After the successful commissioning and signal test phase, the first Galileo only position fix has been established on 12. March 2013. The next launch is planned for autumn 2013. We look for two motivated and skilled DLR GfR staff members, taking over the following tasks as part of an international team Development and optimization of operations concepts Planning, development and improvement of flight procedures Definition and implementation of Operations Key Performance Indicators Participation to spacecraft operations LEOP, commissioning, routine and special operations Performance and trend analysis Anomaly identification and resolution Your qualification University degree Dipl.Ing. or Master in Science of Engineering, ideally in Aerospace Engineering Experience with Satellite Operations Fluent English in spoken and written Selfcontained, solution oriented and responsible working style

This is an opportunity for several motivated and experienced engineers, to work for the ongoing satellite mission SatCOMBw starting October 2013. Responsibilities Duties Day to day monitoring and analysis of the assigned subsystem performance and health status assessment, including anomaly investigation, tracking followup Preparation, validation and execution of special operations e.g. maneuvers, eclipses, in flight testing, simulations etc. Configuration and validation of ground segment systems Preparing, validating and maintaining of spacecraft operation procedures Support for simulators, databases and encryption devices. Qualifications Experience University or similar degree in aerospace, electronics or physics Minimum of 2 years experiences with operational aspects of satellites. Spacecraft Analyst for GMES Sentinels

Responsibilities Duties The Analyst will be required to support the Spacecraft Operations Managers SOMs as a member of the Flight Control Teams FCTs during prelaunch ground segment development and validation and post launch nominal and contingency operations. Within the Flight Control Team, he will coordinate his work with the existing Sentinels Analyst and will have to coordinate his tasks with the other SCOS 2000 based Earth Observation missions. This includes the following tasks. Participating in the LEOP Launch and early orbit phase operations with regard to any database updates Introduction and maintenance of appropriate working practises and procedures for routine and problem reporting, data analysis, recording and maintenance of system status, recording of operational activities. Analysis as required of system problems by collection and evaluation of appropriate data sets using the reporting and analysis tools available Collect information data regarding the execution of the mission and provide inputs for the various mission reports Support data archiving and mission run down activities. In order to discharge his responsibilities the Analyst is required to become familiar with the mission and the control facilities placed at hisher disposal. The Analyst may be required to develop and install suitable tools to allow the efficient execution of the operational tasks. HeShe may be required to analyse the system operations and to prepare procedures, and will be involved in the validation and testing of both the control system and the operational procedures. The Analyst will take part in prelaunch test campaigns and simulations, and arrange for the participation of the controllers. HeShe will conduct regular post launch operational readiness training and simulations with controllers proficiency training. Job Requirements Applicants should have a good knowledge of ESOC Ground Segment Operations and ESOC Ground Segment Components. Good experience with MSACCESS is also required, as well as some experience with office tools, such as MSEXCEL, Visual Basic, ORACLE and SQL. Programming skills are an advantage knowledge of spacecraft control systems such as SCOS 2000 is highly desirable. Knowledge of Packet Utilisation Standard is also highly desirable.
