Senior Communications Engineer Sentinel3 mf Ref.Nr. 158521 The Mission Our customer, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany, is preparing for the operations of the Copernicus Sentinel3 mission. The mission is to measure seasurface topography, sea and landsurface temperature and ocean and landsurface colour with highend accuracy and reliability in support of ocean forecasting systems, and for environmental and climate monitoring. The first of two Sentinel3 spacecraft is planned to be launched in mid2015. The Challenge We are looking for a Senior Communications Engineer who will be working at our customers site, EUMETSAT in Darmstadt, Germany. The tasks and responsibilities of the Communication Engineer include To support the operations and maintenance of the network infrastructure and services of the Copernicus Sentinel3 Ground Segment To carry out the handling and the troubleshooting of the network systems and services anomaly To support the operations, administration and maintenance of thirdparty provided network services To monitor and report the performance of the network infrastructure and systems, including thirdparty provided network services, and the quality of the services delivered to the users The position includes the need for oncall standby support. During periods of standby support, you will need respond to calls by telephone outside normal working hours, and provide support at EUMETSAT if the problem cannot be resolved remotely. This is a fulltime position with a planned starting date in May 2015. Interviews for the position are planned between 9th and 20th March. Your Qualifications You need to have at least 5 years of proven knowledge and handson experience in the following mandatory skills area Essential requirements Network fault detection, analysis, troubleshooting, fixing Cisco technology based network solutions. Role Key Purpose The Mechanisms Team seeks a dynamic, organised and proactive Engineer with high technical capabilities and knowledgeexperience across a broad range of disciplines including mechanical, electrical, systems and optical engineering to work on the design, manufacture and test of various mechanisms. Key Tasks Management of new and existing mechanism products and accountability for budget, schedule and quality technical and hardware. Design of new or evolution of existing mechanism products whilst being mindful of system tradeoffs. Handson engineering including build, test and spacecraft integration responsibilities. Desired Product Ownership of microvibration management including attainment and progression of a welldefined roadmap and action list coordinating risk management across mechanism modules and payloads coordinating module and spacecraft microvibration testing liaising with mechanical system engineers on spacecraft analyticalprediction methodology and designing isolation systems as necessary. Support with vibrationdampening isolation systems for satellite equipments from mechanisms to vibrationsensitive equipment, e.g. opticspayloads. Interface with internal and external customers including verbalmeetings or authoring technical documents e.g. design reports, procedures, test reports Debugging mechanism hardware issues including electrical and component anomalies. Knowledge, Skills and Experience Qualifications MEng or BEng or equivalent ideally in engineering Experience. Proven successful ownership and management of technical projects delivered within budget and schedule constraints. Proven success within spacecraft engineering domain. Proven mechanical design experience including stresscritical components precision tolerancing and drafting materials awareness and fabricationmanufacture methods awareness Preferable experience with debugging hardwarecomponent issues. Electrical hardware design and software experience would be an advantage for the role. Knowledge Skills Selfmotivated, creative, high attention to detail. Ability to work autonomously or within project teams Ability to work under pressure in an organised and responsive manner. Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities. Knowledge of mechanism products, mechanism components e.g. bearings, actuators, transmissions, feedback devices and their role within the system. Knowledge of the subject of microvibration and its implications for spacecraft systems. Knowledge and ideally practical experience of spacecraft systems and mechanisms such as, wheels, APMs, separation systems for example. Mechanical software knowledge preferable, including SolidWorks Ansys Matlab. Good MS Office Skills.

Knowledge and understanding with actual working experience of space related standards ECSS and CCSDS concerning spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Mission Control Systems such as ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard PUS, CCSDS Space Packet Protocol SPP and CCSDS Space Link Extension Protocol SLE. Extensive experience in the full cycle of development of application software, preferably for Satellite Mission Control Systems, following formal software engineering processes. Experience in corrective maintenance, integration and verification testing activities of application software for Satellite Mission Control Systems following formal software engineering processes. This includes requirement verification, generation of test plan and test procedures, nonregression testing, generation of test data, generation of test tools, running the test procedures on the target system, generation of test reports and anomaly tracking, investigation, correction and testing. Extensive experience in developing and maintaining software applications using Java and C programming languages under UNIX operating systems.
