Junior and Senior Ground Segment System Engineer Telespazio VEGA Deutschland has been supporting the European Space Industry for over 30 years, including ESA, DLR, EUMETSAT and CNES. This is an opportunity for a motivated and experienced engineer to work for our EUMETSAT customer within a new and interesting space mission. Sentinel3 is a Low Earth Orbiting mission in the context of the Copernicus Services set up by the European Commission. The first satellite, Sentinel3A, is expected to launch mid2015 with the second satellite Sentinel3B operating in tandem and due for launch 18 months later. EUMETSATs monitors and controls Sentinel 3 satellites and generates near realtime and offline products to support the marine user community. Telespazio VEGA offers a permanent position based in EUMETSAT, Darmstadt, Germany with an expected starting date in April 2015. Application closing deadline is February 12th, 2015. RESPONSIBILITIESDUTIES The Ground Segment System Engineers shall support the Sentinel3 Operations with respect to EUMETSATs S3 Ground Segment maintenance and necessary evolutions, including the necessary coordination with the other S3 Ground Segments and Core Ground Stations at architectural and system engineering level and also for the related interfaces between those ground segment and within the EUMETSATs Sentinel3 ground segmentincluding the EUMETSAT MultiMission Elements. In addition, the Ground Segment Engineers shall provide support to the AIV activities during the integration of the S3 ground Segment and shall coordinate the verification of the new systems and their interfaces into the EUMETSATs Sentinel3 ground segment. The Engineers duties will include a range of tasks, from preparing and providing the support of the day to day operation and maintenance currently in the preparation phase, the analysis, and ground segment level testing of the facilities which also includes the handling of anomalies, design of upgrades and configuration changes for these facilities at overall ground segment level. The Key Persons will be the focal point when it comes to integrating the individual Facilities into a ground segment system, covering all aspects of system integration and testing, including endtoend testing of the overall EUMETSAT s Sentinel3 ground segment including the EUMETSAT MultiMission Elements. Tasks will also contain the maintenance of an uptodate set of design documents and Interface Control Documents for the operational systems and shall perform technical analysis of system architecture and specification for evolutions or major upgrades of the S3 ground segment. In support to operations, the Engineer may also be required to provide on call support as part of a team of maintenance engineers, especially for the S3 commissioning and initial operations phases.
