JOB DETAILS Position Title Senior Satellite Operations Engineer Reports to Satellite Operations Director Department Technical Location EshailSat HQ and Teleport Working Hours Sunday to Thursday from 7am to 3pm OnCall Once satellite inorbit, Oncall on rotation basis 1 out of 5 weeks Revised on August 2015 JOB PURPOSE ROLE Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining satellite and ground operations procedures for EshailSat Fleet. Mentors Satellite Operations Engineers when needed. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES GENERAL Policies and Procedures Support the definition of the Concept of Operations CONOPS Maintain Flight Ground Operations Procedures for the SCC and Ground TTC subsystem. Design, develop and ensure implementation of processes and procedures related to satellite and payload operations, fault and event management, data management and COMSEC operations. Support Definition of Internal Business Processes and Maintain them Maintain and update the contingency business processes related to satellite operations. Operations Project Planning and Implementation Contribute to the Satellites Project team development to ensure operation requirements are taken into account and consequently fulfilled. Support the development, launch and inorbit testing of new satellites. Participating in the development of software tools, methods and procedures to improve testing and measurement capabilities. Testing and assessing the viabilitycompatibility of new systems and equipment. Participating in the identification and assessment of new technologies. BEFORE LAUNCH Operation Planning Formulation Ensure readiness of the Satellite and Ground Operations procedures Offline Activities Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports to the management, Perform trend analysis and Generate Satellite Health Reports on a monthly basis, Communication and Coordination Monitor and report all failures associated with the satellites performance Work closely with Satellite Operations Manager on Anomaly Management. Coordinate with CMC Requests and IOT Campaigns Disaster Recovery Define a Disaster Recovery Plan for Operations including but not limited to Training requirements for the teams, recovery scenarios AFTER LAUNCH Operation Planning Formulation Ensure readiness of the Satellite and Ground Operations procedures Define and prepare Payload IOT campaigns in coordination with Network Operations Department Satellite InOrbit Operations Support all critical operations, Perform trend analysis and anomaly resolution for satellite operations, Support Satellite Controllers during Manoeuvers and other critical operations, Perform internal audits to check if procedures and processes are followed by Satellite Controllers Oncall support during outside normal business hours on a rotation basis once every 5 weeks in average, Offline Activities Prepare ranging Campaigns Prepare Station Keeping manoeuvers Coordinate with Satellite Manufacturer for anomalies Generate Anomaly Reports for InFlight Ground Anomalies, Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports to the management, Perform trend analysis and Generate Satellite Health Reports on a monthly basis, Provide Continuous training to Satellite Controllers and other team members as required. Communication and Coordination Monitor and report all failures associated with the satellites performance Work closely with Satellite Operations Manager on Anomaly Management. Coordinate with CMC Requests and IOT Campaigns Whole of Life Continuous Training Provide intense training programs for Spacecraft Controllers as required QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS Qualifications Experience Master in Aerospace Engineering or relative discipline, 7 years or more of experience in Satellite Operations, Satellite Platform and Payload Engineering deep understanding, Knowledge of AOCS, Thermal Subsystem, TCR, Data Handling, Power Supply, Telecommunication Payload, COMSEC, Knowledge of a Satellite Monitoring and Control system EPOCH suite will be an advantage, Knowledge of DS2000 from MELCO will be an advantage, Knowledge of OASYS will be an advantage, Skills Problem solving skills, Strong communication and interpersonal skills, Proficiency of English language, Able to work in an international and multicultural environment, SelfConfidence, Good ability to trainmentor other team members, Integrity Flexibility.

Senior Engineer, Spacecraft Payload Ref SES0603 Region Europe Location Isle of Man Douglas Company SES Category Space Operations Position Staff Published 20150731 Context The Senior Engineer, Spacecraft Payload, will be responsible for the oversight of the companys contracts with the satellite payload manufacturers. Working closely together with the SES Spacecraft Field Offices, Space Operations and Ground Infrastructures groups, the position involves supervising the development of multiple satellite telecommunication payloads and of local ground station antennas. The candidate will need to ensure SES SLs SES Satellite Leasing best interests are protected, reviewing as appropriate milestones and timelines to ensure that contractual and programmatic targets are met. Attendance at key milestone meetings events throughout the development and manufacturing of the satellite payloads will also be required design reviews, test readiness reviews, management meetings, testing, etc.. The role will require a high level of interface with other SES departments who support these various activities. Primary Responsibilities Key Result Areas Together with the SES Field Offices, perform the oversight of SES SL payloads development and, as appropriate, attend relevant meetings and reviews with both SES internal and external stake holders spacecraft payload manufacturers, ground segment service providers, Field Offices safeguarding SES SL interests in the case of schedule or programmatic issues arising. Early detection and identification of critical problem areas throughout the design and construction phases of the satellite projects. Interface with SESinternal teams, the satellite payload manufacturers and ground segment antenna service providers as appropriate, in the management of SES SL procurement activities. Support and advise on all SES SL investment decisions related Support the management and operations of local ground station antennas. Maintain a wide satellite payload industry review and be proactive in keeping SES informed of market developments, competitive ventures and opportunities Competencies Competencies in the fields of satellite payload architecture, design and manufacturing. Ability to work on technical and programmatic issues with manufacturers, SES field office team and specialists from SES headquarters. Excellent communications skills both written and oral. Negotiation skills, assertiveness and ability to seek working solutions within program constraints. Selfmotivated and capable to work both independently and within a team. A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Hardware Engineer within the Communication Processors Group within Airbus Defence and Space in Stevenage. The Communication Processors group is responsible for the development of Digital Processors for telecommunications applications, working for a variety of customers usually external to Airbus. Whilst some products are bespoke designs, increasingly projects involve a tailoring of generic product solutions to a specific customer. The hardware team is responsible for the schematic design of the PCBs and component selection. The Senior Hardware Engineer is the Lead engineer acting as the focal point of contact for all customer facing technical needs, coordinating all aspects of engineering including the detailed design work. The Senior Hardware Engineer remains a key member of the project team during manufacture and test of the flight equipments, frequently interfacing directly with the customer. The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Coordination of all technical elements of the project, starting from the customer specification. This includes overseeing the work carried out by detailed design engineers within the hardware team, performing component selection, simulations, analysis and schematic capture and working closely with neighbouring teams including ASICFPGA designers, Mechanical designers. The successful candidate will be able to summarise clearly the technical information in order to present the key points to the project manager and to the customer. Providing regular progress reports to both line and project management, assisting with scheduling and costing of the project work. Inputs to bids for new projects, contributing technical sections and statements of compliance. Contribute to lessons learnt activities, process improvement and risk management. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Educated to degree level in Electronics Electrical RF Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline. Experience of the complete Flight Hardware Design Cycle, from requirements capture, through schematic design, to experience of handson support to Manufacture and Test of Flight Units. Experience in coordinating the technical work of other engineers team size 5 to 40, including individuals located within the same team and in other parts of the organisation.
