For our activities in Germany, we are looking for a person to provide Copernicus Ground Segment System Engineer. TASKS Participate in the system engineering processes for managing requirements through the lifecycle of ground segments, using formal methods and tools e.g. DOORS for maintenance, traceability, verification and validation of requirements Support the technical analysis of the architecture and specifications of major upgrades of ground segments, in order to ensure coherence and compatibility with other ongoing developments and identify impacts on baseline technical documentation Contribute to maintaining the reference architecture of the overall EUMETSAT ground segment through the assessment of relevant technologies and design options, based on a Model Based Engineering approach Support the definition of the Integration Verification Validation IVV approach and the related tests for evolutions of existing systems and installation of new systems Support the maintenance of a complete and consistent set of system level documentation and drawings. Preparing and providing support to the day to day operation and maintenance of the Copernicus S3 ground segment, including the handling of the anomalies raised during the operation of the system and control of changes. In support to operations, the Key Person may also be required to provide on call support as part of a team of maintenance engineers. System Operations Engineer

For our activities in EUMETSAT, we are currently looking for a System Operations Engineer, working on realtime endtoend mission operations and the systems required supporting and monitoring them. This includes Event Monitoring GEMS, system endtoend monitoring SMART, user notification systems UNSUMS, system monitoring NAGIOS, GMC, system monitoring infrastructure MASIF, as well as support to the coordination and management of the overall system performance monitoring. The post is required for the routine operations phases of the MSG and EPS systems, and to support the preparation of future missions. Specific support will be required to the Copernicus Sentinel3 programme. Main responsibilities Tasks and Responsibilities As a member of RSO, you will provide support to the mission performance of the MSG Ground Segment and the EPS Overall Ground System OGS, as well as their evolution, as well as to the future programmes. Main duties will include the support to System operations in a realtime operations environment Endtoend operations monitoring User messaging systems configuration and operation Configuration of event monitoring and endtoend monitoring systems Monitoring infrastructure configuration and operation Multimission element and infrastructure operations Mission Performance System Evolutions for existing and new programmes. The role comprises a range of tasks including the provision of support to the routine operation of the LEO GEO ground segments, as well as their evolution to include new programmes and system operations. You will be responsible for the definition andor maintenance of the routine operations procedures pertaining to mission performance operations and the interfaces of the key systems within the ground segment, in accordance with the established EUMETSAT Operations Department configuration management and quality assurance practices. As part of the operations evolution, you will be responsible for the redesign and evolution of the mission performance systems to support existing and new programmes. You will acquire and maintain a Systemwide view of the MSG System, and the EPS CGS and OGS, particularly in the areas of system endtoend monitoring control and data flows. You will review any planned changes to the mission performance system configurations for LEO and GEO ground segments, and support the investigation of anomalies encountered through the routine system and ground segment operations. You will also provide support to the development and operations preparation for recurrent satellites in existing operational programs e.g. MetopC and MSG4, and for future operational programs now in development including Sentinel3, MTG and EPSSG. You will interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade. You will perform the following routine operations tasks Definition and maintenance of system operations procedures, including System and ground segment procedures and operations guides Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimisation of spacecraft monitoring and control activities Liaison with the ground segment facility operations teams and system operations analysts to ensure the continuity and optimisation of ground segment and mission operations through procedure and operations guide updates, configuration changes, database or user interface changes etc. Support to the definition of the Operations Service Specification Interface with the systems maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimised performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes to the mission performance systems Provision of support to operational ground segment analyses Provision of standbyoncall support as system operations engineer, on an as needed basis. Ideal candidate Requirements Essentials In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline, you should have the following mandatory attributes at least five years of experience of endtoend system operations in a realtime spacecraft operations environment at least three years of work experience in the operation of mission monitoring systems at least 3 years of experience in the definition, development, integration and acceptance testing of mission data monitoring systems at least three years of work experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of ground segment systems. Desirables Recent experience of the following, in an operational context, would be a distinct advantage experience at least three years in the operations preparation and routine operations of Geostationary GEO and Low Earth Orbit LEO satellite systems experience of configuration and monitoring using NAGIOS experience with the definition and analysis of operational user requirements experience of using configuration management systems such as CVS familiarity with ECSS and CCSDS standards related to spacetoground interfaces and applicable to Satellite Monitoring Control Systems Packet Telemetry and Telecommand standards, PUS Packet Utilisation Standard, etc. Windows Unix Linux operating systems.
