We are looking to further enhance our team by adding a EPSSG System Interfaces Engineering support You will be based initially for 2 years at our clients headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. Extension of a further 2 years may be possible. In this large European Agency you will find an excellent and modern working environment with challenging tasks and responsibilities. Your Tasks Include The activities for this consultancy will focus on the definition and management of external and major internal system interfaces. The activity requires one key person for the duration of the consultancy contract. The tasks and responsibilities of the key person to be undertaken during the EPSSG Phase B will typically include the following Verify that all external system interfaces are identified and sufficiently covered in system requirements and system model. Verify that the major internal inter segment system interfaces are identified and sufficiently covered in system requirements and system model. Investigation of the best way to exploit the system model held in CORE tool from Vitech for interface definition. Implementation of any changes to the system model identified in order to aid the interface documentation. Coordination and definition of technical interfaces with the external partners and service providers Organisehold meetings and workshops with external and major internal interface partners to establish interface detailsagreements Generate and maintain Interface Requirement Documents IRDs for all system interfaces using DOORs. Identify the mechanisms to be used for detailed ICD definition eg use of XML etc Generate and maintain the system Interface Control Documents ICD. Provide support to general system engineering activities o Analysis and trade off activities o Preparation and maintenance of system technical specification o documentation of system design and justification o ad hoc internal reviews o system level formal reviews SRR, PDR o Provide support to progress meetings o Support IVV activities These activities will involve interactions with other Client divisions. Travel within Europe, to the United States and possibly other parts of the world may have to be undertaken for certain tasks. The work will be released in individual work packages. Your Profile The consultant shall have the following experience and background University degree in the domain of engineering, science, or equivalent. At least 5 years of experience in the field of engineering of space andor ground system. Experience of large space systems space andor ground segment. Experience of interface management and definition. Familiarity with mechanisms and tools for detailed interface definition. Demonstrated capability to prepare and manage IRD and ICD. The following experience would be additional assets Experience in the area of LowEarth Orbiting satellites LEO. Experience in CORE design tool from Vitech. Experience with DOORs. The key person shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. Heshe shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communication skills verbal and written are important. Heshe shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. Fluency in English the working language is English.. Specific separate Instrument Functional Chain Teams IFCT are being established to ensure that each instrument chain is addressed in an endtoend fashion for Radiometric, Spectral and Geolocation aspects. The primary focus of this key person will be on system aspects not covered by the IFCT however participation in and support to the IFCTs is foreseen. The tasks and responsibilities of the key person to be undertaken during the EPSSG Phase B will typically include the following Analysis and justification of the system design. Provide input to the system design justification document, especially concerning end to end performance aspects. Identify all system areas that require a budget to be maintained. Perform an apportionment between Space and Ground segments and any other element involved Control and document all technical budgets in accordance with ECSS standards Monitor lower level technical specifications and budgets for compliance to system apportionment. Tasks The activities for this consultancy will focus on defining and maintaining the EPSSG system development logic, schedule and all subsystem interactions. The EPSSG system covers the space segment satellite and instruments, ground segment, satellite application facilities, launcher service and LEOP service, as well as the corresponding operations preparation activities. Satellite development is carried out under ESA responsibility but must be coordinated with all other EUMETSAT developments, and all of its interactions with the rest of the system will be defined as part of this activity. The key person would be a member of the EPSSG System Team in the Low Earth Orbit Division LEO at EUMETSAT. The tasks and responsibilities of the key person to be undertaken during the EPSSG Phase B will typically include the following Define a system development logic covering all system elements, up to the time of the handover of the last satellite to the Operations Department Prepare and maintain a detailed system development schedule in coordination with all subsystems and partners, together with a critical path analysis of each version of the schedule Identify all interactions between subsystems and partners, and associate them with main system development milestones and the program work breakdown structure Provide inputs to the sections of the System Development Plan concerning system development logic, schedule and interactions Put into place a database of all interactions allowing their subsequent management Prepare and maintain Interactions Documents defining all interactions between subsystems, together with their need dates.
