Spaceopal Early Services System Engineer Spaceopal is the operations prime contractor for the European Galileo Satellite Navigation System and manages all Galileo Operations. The awarded European Commission EC contract to Spaceopal is more than just its satellites in space. Galileo Operations will provide highquality positioning, navigation and timing services to users across the whole world as a civilcontrolled service with guaranteed continuity of coverage. For our office in Munich, Germany, we are looking for a System Engineer mf to assist a preliminary Setup Phase and a subsequent Validation Phase for the Galileo Early Services ES. Whilst waiting for the Galileo Full Operational Capability FOC to be deployed, EC and ESA have defined Early Services to include the following main lines development of initial services for Open Service OS and Search and Rescue SAR, after that stable RF signals for their exploitation are available on air testing of Pilot Projects for Public Regulated Services PRS, followed by associated initial service experiments exercise of demonstrator for Commercial Services CS, followed by associated initial services. The ideal candidate is a System Engineer with Operations Ops experience and capability of understanding Satellite Navigation Services and related Ops products, supporting all Systems aspects related to ES preparation and validation. Heshe will understand Galileo Mission Segment GMS and Galileo Control Segment GCS elements functions with their interfaces and associated inputoutput information exchange, manage GMSGCS interface issues and needs, focus the problem of measuring and reporting Operational Key Performance Indexes OKPIs, understand Navigation Services Status and related reporting needs, identify requisites to hold up CS, SARGalileo service, PRS, including info to be exchanged with the remote Galileo Service Centre GSC and SARGalileo Data Service Provider SGDSP. We expect the candidate to be passionate about the topic of Satellite Radioassisted Navigation to be characterized by strong working knowledge of English, both written and spoken, with ability to interface expert Operators at Galileo Control Centres as well as personnel from external entities like EC, ESA, Service Providers, Pilot Projects to hold a Personal Security Clearance PSC to have organizational skills and leadership to hold a degree in TelecommunicationsElectronicsInformatics Engineering, with at least 3 years of work experience in Satellite Navigation to have knowledge of Satellite RadioAssisted Navigation Mission concepts, Galileo specific Services and Ground Segment functional elements comprehension of related requirements, architecture, design, validation, operation to be sensitive on understanding Navigation Service Status and Operational KPIs to be available to frequent travel in Europe to have, as desirable skill, knowledge of Computer Programming. The Early Services System Engineer will have to supervise the System aspects related to Galileo Early Services Operations, including initial Preparation Phase I and subsequent Validation Phase II to coordinate with Early Services Operations Engineers ESOEs for preparing and ensuring that Operations are set in place to properly support the required validation of Galileo Early Services to supervise the identification designimplementation of strategies and tools in order to capture OKPIs and report related information, understanding how to extract relevant data from GMS elements GAFC, MUCF in order to feed the ILSOPS Tools to interface with responsible for ILSOPS Tools Requirements, Design and Operation, driving the evolution of ILS Tools envisaged for OKPI reporting to understand how to identify and report on Navigation Services Status, depending upon information reported by GMS elements and eventual inputs from external centres evaluating Galileo end to end and predicted volume performance to support the designimplementation of strategies in order to change Navigation Service Status Flags by operating on GMSGCS to interface with responsible for OPS Products and Procedures Update and Validation and support generation of Early Services Validation strategies and related implementation Plan, accounting for GMS status and related functional limitations to manage set up of Digital Data Links and data exchange between GCCI, GCCD and Galileo Service Centre to support validation activities concerned with the following Early Services Commercial Services Demonstrator SARGalileo PRS Pilot Projects to take care of the analysis of Training needs to interface with responsible for OPS Products and Procedures Update and Validation to be book captain for a number of document deliverables.
