HTC launches new Desire smartphone range in US

(Telecompaper) HTC announced a new range of "affordable premium" smartphones in its Desire line for the US market. The Desire 626, Desire 626s, Desire 526 and Desire 520 will launch over the coming weeks with all the major US mobile operators in a range of colours. HTC said the phones come with many of the features on its flagship One M9, at a more affordable price. This includes the HTC Sense 7 user interface and customisation options such as HTC Themes, HTC BlinkFeed, the Zoe app for making and sharing photo stories and HTC Sense Home applications. HTC Sense Home is an intelligent widget that automatically curates apps based on usage and location. It is contextually aware of location, time of day and preferred apps at home, work or on the go. While exploring a new city, HTC BlinkFeed intelligently recommends restaurants near you and recommended by friends during mealtimes. The new range, all with LTE, quad-core processors, expandable memory and 2,000 mAh batteries, includes the HTC Desire 526 with 4.7-inch screen in Stealth Black, the HTC Desire 520 with 4.5-inch screen in Steel Gray and the Desire 626 and 626s with 5-inch, HD 720p screens. All four come with an 8MP primary camera with HD 720p video recording, while the Desire 626 has a 5MP front camera and the other three a 2-megapixel front camera. The operators AT&T, Boost Mobile, Cricket, MetroPCS, Sprint Prepaid, T-Mobile, Tracfone, Verizon Wireless and Virgin Mobile USA will announce in the coming weeks and months more details on availability, including colours and pricing.

ZTE introduces Axon smartphone for US market

(Telecompaper) ZTE has launched its new Axon phone brand in the US. Like the axon nerves that help keep the mind and body connected, the Axon is the nerve centre of everything you do, according to the company. "Designed in the US for the US", the ZTE Axon will sell unlocked for USD 449.98 from ZTE's website, as well as be available with carriers such as AT&T and T-Mobile. Pre-orders are open now, and shipments will start 27 July.  The Axon comes with a 5.5-inch screen in a metal and glass casing in a choice of Phthalo Blue, Ion Gold or Chromium Silver. The LTE Cat 6 smartphone runs Android 5.1 and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with Adreno 430 GPU, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB memory and 3000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0. In what ZTE claims is an industry first in the US, the Axon features two dedicated audio chipsets for improved sound quality. JBL E13 in-ear headphones are included with the phone. The Axon also comes with dual rear cameras to capture high-resolution images and videos that can be viewed on a 4K TV and an 8-megapixel, wide-angle front camera. In addition, ZTE offers the Axon Passport 1.0, a two-year warranty that also includes free shipping, 30-day buyer's remorse returns and regular upgrades .

ZTE unveils SmartHome gateway, Blade D6 smartphone

(Telecompaper) ZTE announced the new Blade D6 smartphones and its first smart home gateway, the ZTE SmartHome, at the Mobile World Congress Shanghai. The ZTE SmartHome enables users to communicate with everyday home devices from light switches to baby monitors via the ZigBee wireless protocol, as well as LTE connections. A mobile application for smartphones and tablets allows control over a broad range of smart home devices, covering home management, home security, and health and safety. The modem-like device also supports Wi-Fi and WAN/LAN connections. The Blade D6 is a new sllim, lightweight phone with 5-inch HD screen and aluminum alloy body. It runs a quad-core 1.3GHz chipset, 2GB of RAM and Android 5.0 with the latest rendition of ZTE's user interface, MiFavor 3.2. The Blade D6 features an 88-degree wide-angle 5 megapixel front camera and 13 megapixel rear camera with True Tone flash. A unique feature to the ZTE Blade D6 is its '3 in 2' tray holder that can accommodate a micro SIM, as well as either an additional nano SIM or a micro SD card. Over the next few months, the Blade D6 will launch in four colours pink, gold, grey and silver, across markets such as Australia, Russia and Japan.
