Xiaomi starts smartphone production in Brazil

(Telecompaper) Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has started production of handsets in Brazil, its first market in the Americas. Xiaomi also announced that it will start selling its Redmi 2 smartphone in Brazil for BRL 499 on 7 July. It will also offer the MiBand and MiPowerBank for sale in Brazil. The Xiaomi phones are assembled in Brazil with Foxconn, which manufactures Apple iPhones in the country since 2011.

Emirates introduces wireless smartphone charging in premium lounges

Emirates has installed inductive charging trays in its First Class and Business Class lounges in Concourses A, B and C at Dubai International Airport. The trays allow customers to wirelessly charge up their smartphones simply by placing them on top of the tray.
