(Telecompaper) LG Electronics has introduced the new LG G3 smartphone, the successor to the company's LG G2 device. The LG G3 will launch in LG's home market first on 27 May and roll out with more than 170 carriers worldwide. It will be available in the US later in the summer from T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T, Verizon and Best Buy. The LG G3 smartphone runs on Android 4.4.2 and features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor (up to 2.5GHz quad-core), a 5.5-inch quad HD IPS display, 16/32GB eMMC ROM, microSD slot for expandable memory up to 128GB, a 13.0-megapixel rear-facing camera with OIS and Laser Auto Focus, a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera and a 3,000mAh battery. The new device will be available in Metallic Black, Silk White, Shine Gold, Moon Violet and Burgundy Red.

Ultra low power (ULP) RF specialist Nordic Semiconductor ASA recently announces that French multi-die system-in-package (SiP) design specialist, Insight SiP, has developed a miniaturized Nordic nRF51822 System-on-Chip-based Bluetooth Smart module that requires no specialist RF engineering experience to employ and targets highly space-constrained smartphone and tablet appcessories, and computer accessories, such as body-worn health and wellness sensors and key fob proximity detectors.
