Requirements Essentials In addition to a University degree in computer science or engineering, you should have a demonstrated experience of at least 5 years conducting and implementing Configuration Management of large scale, softwarecentred systems in an operational environment, preferably for highavailability 24hday systems like e.g. processing production chains, data centres or satellite systems. Experience in Quality Assurance, space system project control and or process modelling of largescale systems with a very good understanding of project development life cycle methodologies would be considered, providing that adequate knowledge and involvement in Configuration Management activities is also demonstrated. Following skills are mandatory Proven significant knowledge and experience in specifying, reviewing and implementing Configuration Management plans, processes and working practices, or at least extensive experience in providing management support to programmes or projects in development Significant experience in project development methodologies, and in particular in configuration management including the definition or review of upstream source code configuration management requirements, control of configuration evolutions of systems software, hardware, databases, satellite and ground system procedures, documents, media, COTS software and COTS Licences, up to the testing and deployment of new releases on configuration controlled environments Extensive knowledge and experience with configuration management tools e.g. Serena Dimensions CM, Jira or Clearcase or business process management tools electronic workflows Experience of software development on a medium or large size project Extensive knowledge and experience with process modelling tools and techniques. Extensive knowledge and experience of a Configuration Management, Quality Assurance or Project Management standard e.g. ISO, ANSI, ECSS, CMMI Proven experience in planning, developing and implementing training sessions and or coaching sessions to users and stakeholders. Tasks and Responsibilities As a member of the Generic and Systems Infrastructure Division GSI, the key person shall be involved in implementing improvements to the development environment for the EUMETSAT Data Centre Archive and will be integrated within the Data Services Engineering Team. The duties shall be to analyse, design, and implement appropriate software configuration management, to support continuous integration, testing and deployment of UMARF software. Particular focus for this assignment will be to modernise and improve the development and build processes by using modern tools and strategies. It is envisioned that this should be implemented on the Technical Compute Environment TCE. Particular the tasks will include, but not be limited to The migration of the subversion repository to the TCE. Build management o Improve the build processes with the introduction of continuous integration technologies. This will require some extensive rewriting of current build scripts. The following goals should be achieved o An automated build process o Continuous running of test cases were possible o Improved reportingrealtime notification of build failuretest failures etc Release management o Improve the current software package management and deployment o Enable releases to be easily and efficiently implemented, tested and deployed Simplification of the development environment o All prerequisites libraries, jar files, environmental variables etc, should be available from version control Advice, suggestions and introduction of tools, practices and strategies for the software configuration management. In the performance of these activities, the key person shall follow the relevant operations change control and maintenance procedures. Requirements In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline, the key person must being able to work autonomous and have good analytical skills. The key person shall have skills and experience in the following mandatory areas minimum 5 years for each 1. System Development Maintenance Skills Experience of building complex software, in particular setting up a continuous integration environment. Experience of migrating and updating Sub Version repositories 2.
