Support to routine operations involving the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems this includes Monitoring and reporting on the performance of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 and Level 2 products and EPS Level 0 to Level 2 products Investigating anomalies relating to the performance of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 and Level 2 and EPS Level 0 to Level 2 products Development and validation of procedures for operating the product generation facilities Preparing and reviewing technical documentation relating to data processingoperations Providing standby callout support Support to the further development of the MSG and EPS data processing systems, including the specification and validation of system updates Support to the preparation of operational monitoring for future MSG and EPS spacecrafts Support for the operations preparation for future programmes, e.g. Meteosat Third Generation MTG and EUMETSAT Polar System 2nd Generation EPS 2G Participation in technical meetings Participation in formal reviews. Mandatory Skills University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline Able to work effectively in English and have knowledge of French. Good communication skills are essential for the fulfilment of the tasks requiring interaction. Able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, work calmly and correctly under stress, work with the minimum of supervision. Minimum of 3 year experience in the operational use and quality control of geophysical data. Experience in the verification and validation of operational data processing systems Experience with UNIXLinux operating systems Experience with the monitoring and reporting of near realtime geophysical data production Experience with configuration control of software and data It would be a distinct advantage for the key person to have experience with the following Imaging and sounding instrumentation for remote sensing spacecraft Programming Languages e.g. C, C and Fortran Scripting Languages e.g. Perl, Python, shell Experience with Oracle databases and SQL Spacecraft andor ground segment operations Operational use and quality control of satellite data Additionally EU national or valid work permit for Germany CV in Europass editable format

TASKS As a member of RSO, the Key Person shall provide support to the development and operation of the MSG Ground Segment and the EPS Overall Ground System OGS, as well as their evolution. Main duties will include the support to System operations in a realtime operations environment Endtoend operations monitoring Communications systems operations Security operations Infrastructure operations and evolution Business Continuity Multimission operations, including mass storage and archiving System Evolutions for existing and new programmes Manual and Automated system and satellite operations including planning and scheduling. The role comprises a range of tasks including the provision of support to the routine operation of the LEO GEO ground segments, as well as their evolution to include new programmes and system operations. The Key Person will be responsible for the definition andor maintenance of the routine operations procedures pertaining to system operations and the interfaces of the key systems within the ground segment, in accordance with the established EUMETSAT Operations Department configuration management and quality assurance practices. The Key Person will acquire and maintain a Systemwide view of the EUMETSAT ground segments. The Key Person will review any planned changes to the system configurations for LEO and GEO ground segments, and support the investigation of anomalies encountered through the routine system and ground segment operations. The Key Person will provide support to the development and operations preparation for recurrent satellites in existing operational programs e.g. MetopC and MSG4, and for future operational programs now in development including Sentinel3, MTG and EPSSG. The key person will interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade. The Key Person will perform the following routine operations tasks Definition and maintenance of system operations procedures, including System and ground segment procedures and operations guides Liaison with the spacecraft operations team to ensure the continuity and optimization of spacecraft monitoring and control activities Liaison and coordination with the ground segment facility operations teams and system operations analysts to ensure the continuity and optimization of ground segment and mission operations through procedure and operations guide updates, configuration changes, database or user interface changes etc. Interface and coordination with the systems maintenance teams and industry representatives to ensure optimized performance, including participating in the definition and implementation of any changes Provision of support to operational ground segment analyses Provision of standbyoncall support as system operations engineer, on an as needed basis. This will be coordinated through the normal oncall process Provision of support, as required, to critical operations Processing and coordination of system anomalies, their documentation, investigation, classification and resolutionmitigation, including participation in Anomaly Review Boards Participation in technical meetings, formal reviews, and scheduling and planning meetings Processing and coordination of system modifications, including their documentation, approval, and implementation, including participation in Change Review Boards Support to, and participation in, the functional verification and operational validation of system upgrades and evolutions, both standalone and in the context of an overall ground segment. TASKS Extracting relevant information from the ATOVSAVHRR EPS processing chains and Cal Val Facility CVF to perform regular production and quality monitoring reports.
