Within the Operations and Services to Users Department, the Flight Operations Division FLO is charged to conduct space system flight operations, flight dynamics, mission analysis and mission control safely to maximize the mission return. Within FLO, the Meteosat Satellite Operations Team is responsible for the inorbit operations of four geostationary satellites Meteosat78910. The Meteosat Satellite Operations Team also supports the operations preparation of the 4th MSG satellite MSG4 which is to be launched in summer 2015 and the operations preparations of the MTG satellites which are currently under development. The key person will be integrated in the Meteosat Spacecraft Operations Team. Hisher tasks in the area of the spacecraft payload subsystem and also some platform routine operations and operations preparation will typically include Familiarisation with the Meteosat satellite design and existing operations procedures as necessary Support the conduct of routine operations of the inorbit MSG spacecraft and commissioning of MSG4. Provision of Satellite Operations Engineer SOE oncall service Performance evaluation and trend analysis to monitor the inflight behaviour of the spacecraft payload, including support to yearly and specific operations reviews for payloads and platform e.g. eclipses, manoeuvres, decontamination, etc Contribute to the maintenance of o Automated and Manual procedures, o Operations database, o Special operation instructions, o Other operational documentation e.g. SOE Guide, Contingency Ops Guide, etc for the preparation and execution of System Validation Tests, commissioning and onorbit satellite operations Support for the maintenance of the MSG Flight Operation Manual Satellite simulator maintenance support and provision of the necessary input to the simulator maintenance team Support to the satellite monitoring and control facility maintenance team to ensure that the facility, including the telemetry analysis tools, is always fit for its purpose Participate to the activities related to the MSG Routine Operations Support provided by the MSG satellites manufacturer particularly in the technical area of the MSG payloads Analysis and investigation of operational events and anomalies particularly relating to the operations of the MSG Spacecraft platform and payload and associated ground segment elements Preparation and production of routine reports as necessary Participation in the preparation and specification of system updates Preparation of technical notes and attendance at technical meetings and reviews Preparation presentation of Flight Ops Team training material wrt SC Operations Contribution to the MTG system operations concepts for SC operations related topics. Support, as requested, the specification and reviews of the different operations related elements of the MTG system including satellites and ground segments. Support the MTG operations preparations activities, mainly at Space Segment level but including also Ground Segment aspects Support, as requested, the satellite simulator development procurement followup and maintenance and provide the necessary input to the simulator team. Review technical notes and attendance at technical meetings and reviews Participation to the definition and execution of the Operational System Validation activities such as SVTs, rehearsals and the necessary training activities for the various operations personnel prior to system commissioning. Contribute to the definition of MTG commissioning activities. Profile In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have significant experience of spacecraft operations, including routine spacecraft operations with good knowledge of all subsystems . Furthermore, it would be a distinct advantage for the Key persons to have experience with some of the following Operations preparation of a satellite project. Operations andor implementation of Flight Software Subsystem. The Key person shall be able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, demonstrating analytical approach and attention to detail and shall be able to work calmly and correctly under stress and must be able to work with the minimum of supervision. The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. The working language for the position is English and therefore the key persons must be able to work effectively in this language and have knowledge of the other.

System Operations Engineering Support Mission Performance Team

ACS is looking for a consultancy support for a System Operations Engineer required to operate EUMETSATs operational systems, with particular focus on realtime endtoend mission operations and the systems required to support and monitor them. This includes Event Monitoring GEMS, system endtoend monitoring SMART, user notification systems UNSUMS, system monitoring NAGIOS, GMC, system monitoring infrastructure MASIF, as well as support to the coordination and management of the overall system performance monitoring. The post is required for the routine operations phases of the MSG and EPS systems, and to support the preparation of future missions. Specific support will be required to the Copernicus Sentinel3 programme. ACS has more than 30 years experience in delivering solutions for Earth Observation satellites Ground Segments. As part of the operations evolution, the key person will be responsible for the redesign and evolution of the mission performance systems to support existing and new programmes. The Key Person will acquire and maintain a Systemwide view of the MSG System, and the EPS CGS and OGS, particularly in the areas of system endtoend monitoring control and data flows. The Key Person will review any planned changes to the mission performance system configurations for LEO and GEO ground segments, and support the investigation of anomalies encountered through the routine system and ground segment operations. The Key Person will provide support to the development and operations preparation for recurrent satellites in existing operational programs e.g. MetopC and MSG4, and for future operational programs now in development including Sentinel3, MTG and EPSSG. The key person will interface with project teams on the implementation of system upgrades to support major operations projects, including System MidTerm Evolution Plan, recurrent satellites, and any System hardware and operating system obsolescence upgrade. In addition to having a university degree or equivalent in a relevant technical discipline, the Key Person shall have the following mandatory attributes at least five year experience of endtoend system operations in a realtime spacecraft operations environment at least three year work experience in the operation of mission monitoring systems at least 3 year experience in the definition, development, integration and acceptance testing of mission data monitoring systems at least three year work experience defining and implementing the verification and validation of ground segment systems.
