RHEA is currently recruiting a Data Processing Operations Engineer to support the Routine Operations phases of the Meteosat Second Generation MSG, Meteosat Transition MTP and EUMETSAT Polar System EPS Programmes. Please note that this position is based at our clients premises in Darmstadt, Germany. Tasks and Activities Your primary tasks and activities may include Supporting routine operations involving the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems, including Monitoring and reporting on the performance of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 and Level 2 products and EPS Level 0 to Level 2 products Investigating anomalies relating to the performance of the MSG, MTP and EPS data processing systems and the quality and availability of the MSG and MTP Level 1 and Level 2 and EPS Level 0 to Level 2 products Preparing and reviewing technical documentation relating to data processing operations Providing Standby callout support Supporting the further development of the MSG and EPS data processing systems, including the specification and validation of system updates Supporting the operations preparations for future MSG and EPS spacecrafts Supporting the preparations for Meteosat Third Generation Attending technical meetings Participating in formal reviews Skills and Experience You must possess the following skills and experience University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline A minimum of 3 years experience in the realtime acquisition, Level 0 processing and Level 1 processing of data andor Level 2 processing of data from imaging andor sounding instruments on remote sensing spacecraft Significant experience of validating complex remote sensing data processing systems Experience with UNIXLinux operating systems The following skills would be highly desirable. Experience of imaging and sounding instrumentation for remote sensing spacecraft Knowledge of Programming Languages e.g. C, C and Fortran Knowledge of Scripting Languages e.g. Perl, Python, shell Experience of Spacecraft andor ground segment operations Knowledge andor experience of geophysical remote sensing data processing, e.g. Image Navigation and Registration INR, radiometric correction, calibration algorithms and retrieval of geophysical parameters Ability to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner Ability to work calmly and correctly under stress Ability to work with the minimum of supervision Good communication skills Fluency in English knowledge of French would be an advantage How to Apply Looking to take your career to the next level? We require staff, wishing to join our team to work in a dynamic international environment for the following position Software Engineer for EO Data Processing Facilities SDSSAJOBEOS303 Tasks and Responsibilities You will join the Earth Observation Systems EOS Team that develops complex software systems combining state of the art technologies from the Earth Observation EO, Geographic Information Systems GIS, and Knowledge Management KM domains. The team frequently works with international partners. You will be responsible for the design and development of distributed satellite data processing platforms to process satellite data to create user level products. The required solutions will comply with OGC standards and apply cloud processing methods and technology. The work will be performed in our offices in Zaventem Brussels and may require short international travels for meetings. Qualifications and Experience For this position we expect you to have a university degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline e.g. Computer Sciences, Software Engineering, Physical Geometry, Remote Sensing. The following skills are mandatory 2 to 5 years of experience in design and development of distributed Javabased systems Experience with the software development lifecycle Competent in writing highquality software project documentation in English Good knowledge of Linux systems as a user and administrator.
