Summary An opportunity for an engineer or scientist with an altimetrysatellite data background and knowledge of ground segment processing systems. The post is based at the team in UK head office but requires experience of working with ESA and industry. Objective To provide technical support to the existing VEGA team in the domain of Earth observation with adaptability to work on operations tasks and data processing development activity within a service contract. The candidate may be required to travel within Europe and must we willing and able to liaise with clients and subcontractors when needed. Responsibilities Duties Tasks will include Satellite data quality activities to support our existing team responsible for Definition and Implementation of Sensor Performance, Products and Algorithms SPPA Activities for ESA Earth Observation missions. These include supporting ESA activities which are required on a regular basis. Support of data processing campaigns. These are intensive periods of work and require good preparation and efficient execution. Supporting enhancements and new tasks related to the operations of the data processing ground segments. This may involve some software development or monitoring of data products. Other tasks as directed by the project manager Qualifications Experience University degree in a relevant subject and previous experience on altimetryEarth observation missions. Good handson experience if ground segment data processing systems, preferably in an operations scenario. Essential Skills Knowledge of altimetryprinciples and theory Expertise and understanding of Earth observation data Software skills for data products Knowledge of satellite altimetry missions IT skills Excel IDL Desirable Skills Knowledge of EO instruments including design and development.
