VMware to acquire Pivotal, Carbon Black for USD 4.6 billion

Apple to launch subscription TV service in November, considers price of USD 10 - report

(Telecompaper) Apple plans to roll out its Apple TV+ subscription service by November, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. It is expected to offer a free trial to start, as it builds up the content catalogue, and then may charge USD 9.99 per month.

Avaya posts quarterly loss of USD 633 mln on impairment, sees takeover talks concluded in month

(Telecompaper) Avaya reported a net loss of USD 633 million for its fiscal third quarter to June, hurt by an impairment charge of USD 657 million to write down goodwill at its Products & Solutions division due to reduced prospects. The company also withdrew its long-term outlook, saying this will be updated after it completes its evaluation of takeover offers, expected in the next 30 days.

Helios Towers mulls listing at possible USD 3 bln valuation - report

(Telecompaper) Helios Towers is reviving plans for an initial public offering, Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Its advisers are resuming preparations for an IPO that could value Helios at about USD 3 billion and it is considering filing for the share sale as soon as this year, they said. The tower owner is weighing London and Johannesburg as listing venues, though it has not made a final decision, one of the people said.

Broadcom buys Symantec enterprise security business for USD 10.7 billion

(Telecompaper) Broadcom has agreed to acquire the enterprise security business of Symantec for USD 10.7 billion cash. This gives the company rights to the Symantec brand name and a full range of cybersecurity products for the business market. Symantec will continue with its consumer software business under the Norton name.
