Main Responsibilities The postholder will focus support the JRC to carry out scientific and technical works linked with integrated modelling and analysis of waterfoodenergy nexus WEFE4DEV and SENEGAL projects for an optimal management of water resources and the satisfaction of multiples uses. In this context, the JRC has developed the Aquaknow webservice, an online collaborative workspace and content management system dedicated to technical and scientific knowledge management for the sustainable development of the water sector. Knowledge management are key elements in the design and implementation of sustainable water management policies. AquaKnow is a dynamic platform for sharing knowledge on water sector related issues. It is a space for gathering and providing dynamic tools to manage scientific and technical information. The successful candidate will carry out the following tasks The aim of this task is to keep update all AQUAKNOW modules by checking in daily basis and to develop new ones to enhance the features of the web system. To ensure that the ATLAS developments will follow the EC web Standards by monthly checks to guarantee the web system integration by helping developers to write webservices to provide support to the developers in terms of database Postgres and web hosting Geoserver. To create custom modules to ensure software communication between AQUAKNOW and other web systems ATLAS and AQUASURVEY. To design and prepare support material to be addressed to stakeholderexpert on use of the AQUASUREY. To ensure the software quality, risk analysis and security assessment of AQUAKNOW and perform architecture changes. To create new Postgres database and integrated GIS tools in the AQUAKNOW platform aimed at harmonized data collection and support experts working on ACEWATER2 on the development of new functions and data processinganalysing in R. Successful Candidate The successful professional profile should bring background in data structure and web applications design and covering altogether the following skills Deep and proved knowledge in DRUPAL, MySQL and PHP. Main Responsibilities The right candidate will be responsible to carry out the following activities Continuous communication with Advanced Computing ICT Support Unit staff for the performance of routine housekeeping activities. Main Responsibilities The key person will be responsible for Support JRCs work for DG CLIMA on modelling forest carbon mitigation potential. This includes the identification of potential improved forest mitigation actions in the EU, including optimized forest management and HWP supply pathways. The work has a strong IT component forest modelling and should be carried out in a strong participatory manner with Member States, researchers, and key stakeholders, in order to combine and use best practice and innovative approaches, based upon science and linked to GHG inventories. Results will be disseminated also through the Bioeconomy Knowledge Centre. Support JRCs forest modelling work for Eurostat on European Forest Accounts EFA. This includes establishing and implementing procedures to gapfill data for a subset of variables of EFA of Eurostat on stocks and flows of timber for all EU Member States and the EU as a whole. This task will build on the experience of JRC with the modelling of forest growth and in particular the Carbon Budget Model, the contractors knowledge of and experience with MS data on forests reported for the NFI and other sources and their harmonisation in terms of concepts and definitions. The above tasks specifically include Provision of expert advice and assistance on forest carbon modelling, including evaluation studies, applicable standards, solution patterns and best practices in the relevant area of ICT infrastructure technology related to forest database management systems, process management and rule execution engines, etc Provision of quality plans, quality assessments and quality control tests associated with the information system infrastructure services related to the JRCs work planned under the two mentioned AAs Assistance in the implementation of relevant software methodology Provision of technical evaluations and audit reports in relation with the relevant information systems infrastructure communication and outreach to customers and to Member States, contributing to workshops, meetings and training sessions. The Office personnel is based partially at the ESA Research and Technology Centre ESTEC in The Netherlands, and partially at the ESECGalaxia in Transinne, Belgium. In support of achieving its educational objectives, the Office offers In the frame of the ESA Academy, the programme for university students A portfolio of training courses, in all areas of ESAs expertise, delivered at the Training and Learning Facility. Training courses topics cover amongst others Space System Engineering, Product Assurance and Safety, Human Space Physiology, Spacecraft Operations and Communications, Gravityrelated Research, Concurrent Design Engineering, CubeSat Design, Space Law, Technology Transfer and Innovation. Support to handson spacerelated project opportunities in particular CubeSat mission design, satellite assembly and tests campaigns. As part of the STEM programme for primary and secondary school teachers, the etechnology lab, a didactic laboratory, offers direct handson experience by using space robotics and space science as learning and teaching contexts.
