LSE Space is looking for 3 experienced Engineers mf in order to fulfill the duty of LEO Spacecraft Operations Engineer Consultancy Support for our customer EUMETSAT in DarmstadtGermany. The position is to provide support to the Operations and Services to Users Department and will be part of the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team. The key person shall be assigned and trained to provide operations expertise and support to one or more platform subsystems and or payload instruments, depending on his or her experience and the overall team needs. The key person shall also participate in coordinating the satellite operations activities of other team members and external teams responsible for onboard software management, simulator support, mission control, mission planning, flight dynamics and ground stations. Furthermore, the key person shall support system and operations preparation activities for MetopC, for Metop Second Generation satellites and possibly also for Sentinel3 and Jason CS. The following activities shall be performed Support to the routine operations of Metop A, B and preparing for MetopC, comprising o Provision of operational expertise to one or more platform subsystems andor payload instruments andor onboard software management, satellite simulator and ground segment operations interfaces. o Maintain the corresponding operations documentation and flight procedures, including the update and operational validation of procedures releases in a configuration controlled environment o Perform trending and performance analysis on the corresponding subsystems and instruments, including definition and possibly prototyping of additional analysis checks where necessary o Investigations into satellite anomalies. This may require a close cooperation with the Operations Support Entity in ESTEC and Industry o Support the coordination of partner agency interactions for relevant subsystemsinstruments o Participation in the satellite oncall support rota o Identification and support to implementation of system and process improvements concerning the Metop Spacecraft Operations Team responsibilities and interfaces. Support to the system and operations preparation of Metop Second Generation satellites o Provide inputs and or review the definition of system and satellite operational concepts o Review space to ground interface specifications and flight operations manuals o Support the definition of tools and processes required to prepare for and operate the satellites. Support to the system and operations preparation of other LEO satellites o Provide operations preparation support as required to the Sentinel3 and JasonCS developments. Qualifications Experience Spacecraft monitor and control operations Spacecraft operations preparation engineering Low Earth Orbit spacecraft design or Assembly Integration and Test activities at system or subsystem level. Inorbit operations of Low Earth Orbit Earth Observation satellites Experience in the operation or development of satellite ground segment facilities, in particular procedure development, monitor and control, mission planning, onboard software management, performance analysis, configuration management and simulator facilities The procedure development tool MOIS and the procedure execution language STOL The mission control systems EPOCH or SCOS Specification of system and operational concepts, facility requirements Familiarity with OnBoard Control Procedure and OnBoard Position Scheduler concepts Familiarity with the ECSS Packet Utilisation Standard, customisation and usage Familiarity with system change control and configuration management procedures Data analysis software packages such as MATLAB File parsing languages such as PERL, AWK Use of VBA for development of adhoc tools in MS Office applications. Academic and work related requirements A University degree in an engineering discipline is required. Perfect command of English, verbal and written. Knowledge of French would be an asset. LSE Space is looking for an experienced Engineer mf in order to fulfill the duty of Desktop Engineering ConsultancySupport for our customer EUMETSAT in DarmstadtGermany. The position will support the Corporate ICT function that refers to the Information and Communication Technology systems, services and infrastructure, which are employed by EUMETSAT for support of its administrative activities. This environment is distinct from the one used for the operation of satellites or distribution of data products. The corporate ICT environment supports the generic office computing needs of EUMETSAT. It does not support any of the satellite control and operations activities nor satellite product generation and distribution, which are based on a separate, dedicated infrastructure. The major elements of the EUMETSAT corporate ICT environment are the user desktopslaptops and standard office applications the data centre MS file print servers, MS Windows application servers the Email and GroupWare System MS Exchange 2007 the network infrastructure LAN including network security and Internet connectivity. The clients are MSWindows 7 desktop and notebook systems running MSOffice 2007 professional plus additional COTS applications. The clients are deployed using Windows Deployment Services and software is distributed using ZENworks Configuration Management 11 ZCM. There are about 80 networked printers and combined printercopiers, mainly from Ricoh. The following activities shall be performed prepare, validate and execute the deployment of Windows 7 desktop systems using Microsoft Deployment Services prepare, validate and execute the distribution of software applications and upgrades to desktops using the ZENworks Configuration Management 11 Software Distribution system prepare, validate and execute the distribution of software patches using WSUS monitor and report on software license usage, maintaining the software license inventory operate and maintain the antivirus management infrastructure based on Symantec Endpoint Protection ensure that all systems are having the latest virus patterns analyse users needs and provide input for the procurement of software applications or for upgrading the existing ones provide second and third level user and technical support for user applications and desktops contribute to the procurement of licenses by providing specifications and performing price inquiries, as well as act as interface with software suppliers regarding procurement, warranty and maintenance issues maintain a verification and validation environment to verify and validate software updates and rollouts maintain system design and operations documentation. In the performance of these tasks, the key person shall apply the ICT working practices for o quality management o configuration and change control o system operations and maintenance. Qualifications Experience proven 5 years of experience as IT Desktop Engineer in a demanding computingenvironment. experience in deploying systems using Windows Deployment Toolkit experience in using Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11 to package and distribute office applications experience in using WSUS to deploy Microsoft and custom built patches extensive knowledge of administering and deploying office packages e.g. MS Office, MS Visio, MS Project, financial and technical applications demonstrated experience in installing, administering Windows 7 desktops experience in operating a managed antivirus system like Symantec Endpoint Protection experience in managing desktops using Microsoft Group Policy experience in using Visual Basic scripting. In addition, the following aspects shall be considered an advantage knowledge of and experience in administering MS Active Directory experience in a structured, ISO 9000 certified project and service environment knowledge of change and configuration management fundamentals and principles knowledge of ITIL. The general task of the Key Person will be to assist the PRS PPC Team in the implementation and maintenance of the TSS schedules and related scheduling and reporting processes.
