Consultancy Support for EPSSG System Test Tools Test Data 1413008 Job Description The activities performed by the keyperson will be an input for the overall System and ground segment VV activities. The keyperson will typically be involved in tasks related to test tools test data, with focus on tools data required for VV of instrument data processing chains. Tools can serve for example the purpose of test data generation manipulation reformatting, test data injection into the ground segment and test data collection analysis. Typical tasks include Identification of the suite of test tools and test data required to support VV activities, and definition of development procurement approach and associated planning. Preparation of User Requirement Documents, Statements of Work, etc., as needed as input for development andor procurement activities. Support for inhouse development and validation of test tools and their maintenance. Support for procurements of test tools test data, including the analysis of received deliverables and attending acceptance tests. Support for acceptance of test tools test data provided by partners. Simulation of test data sets for VV using available tools compilation of test data sets using real data from satellite instrument onground tests or inorbit operation. In case of tools to be connected to the ground segment, input for the specification and test of relevant interfaces. Support for configuration management of tools test data sets, using applicable EUMETSAT processes. Operation of the tools, or support for it, when used for system and ground segment VV activities. Contributions to the analysis of test results and the preparation of test reports. In addition the keyperson will be involved in some more general tasks Participation in relevant internal and external meetings. Regular review of System level documentation dealing with requirements, system concepts, architecture and design, technical analyses, to identify information of importance for test tools test data. In addition, and with the same aim, analysis of documents provided by other teams in EUMETSAT and by external partners. Support for the preparation of documentation for System level reviews, during the covered period the System Requirements Review and Preliminary Design Review. Some activities will involve interactions with other teams, primarily in the LEO division, and also, as relevant for the work, with engineers at partner agencies. Required Skills and Experience University degree in the domain of engineering, physics or equivalent. At least 5 years of general experience with the development of onground processing of data from satellite instruments for Earth observation. At least 5 years of direct involvement in VV activities for instrument processing chains, including production of test tools and of test data. At least 5 years of experience with software specification, design and development and relevant standards. Very good skills in higher programming languages, such as Fortran, CC, Java. The keyperson shall be able to fulfil the assigned tasks with a minimum of supervision, have a systematic approach to work, be able to plan hisher work and to cope with tight schedules and multiple tasks. Heshe shall have the capability to write accurate and consistent technical documentation. Good communication skills verbal and written are important. Heshe shall be willing to work in a team of engineers and in cooperation with industry and partner agencies. Fluency in English. Consultancy Support for Ground Segment Engineering 1413001 Job Description EUMETSAT ground segments typically consist of TTC and payload acquisition ground stations, mission control systems, data processing and archiving facilities, data dissemination facilities and the associated network elements. The Consultant will carry out tasks which support activities related to initially Phase B followed by phases CD of the EPSSG Programme in the area of ground segment engineering. In the role of support to the development of EPSSG Ground Segment, the tasks of the Consultant shall include Analysis of the EPSSG system requirements and contribution to the definition of the Ground Segment Requirements and subsystems requirements specification, taking into account the available services provided by MultiMission Elements and the reuse of existing generic infrastructure and element, promoting and ensuring the implementation of the Ground Segment reference architecture and maintainability requirements and standards defined by TSS for the future programmes. Definition of the EPSSG system architecture and interfaces between the EPSSG elements, the MultiMission Elements and reused elements Contribution to the generation of System Design Documents and Interface Control Documents Support the generation of IVV related concepts and documents, including integration and verification plans and preliminary verification control documents. Support to the preparation of, and participation in, phase reviews at system, ground segment system and element level. AMV Support Consultancy 1313101 Job Description This document constitutes the Statement of Work SOW for consultancy support for a Meteorological Product Software Engineer Geostationary and low orbit Systems required as part of the Routine Operations phases of the Meteosat Transition Programme MTP, the Meteosat Second Generation MSG and the EUMETSAT Polar System EPS programme. The support is also required for the preparation of the future Meteosat Third Generation MTG programme. The Key person shall work in the Remote Sensing and Products Division RSP, supporting the routine operations of the MSG Meteorological Product Extraction Facility MPEF. In this facility, geophysical products level 2 , such as cloud, wind and radiance products, are produced operationally from METEOSAT data. These products are continuously generated and disseminated in near real time to the user community. The Key person will be involved in the implementation of updates to product algorithms of the MSG MPEF, as well as in developing supporting software tools as required. The key person shall be primarily responsible for the software that generates the MTP and MSG MPEF Atmospheric Motion Vector AMV products. This responsibility will in general include anomaly investigation and correction, algorithm enhancements and tuning, and collaborating with the operations engineers responsible for daytoday monitoring of the performance of the AMV product. Future activities will include improvements to algorithm performance, algorithm scalability, etc., based on the medium term product plans on improving MPEF for MTP and MSG and the preparation of the AMV algorithm for MTG. The last task will specifically include support to a prototype processor for MTG. Another wind product is generated from the EPS Metop satellites Polar Wind Product, where the Key person shall provide support in the area of product monitoring and algorithm updates. Within RSP, the key person will work in the team of the Atmospheric and Imaging Applications AIA in the group responsible for the scientific product development and implementation. The tasks of the Key person will typically include Algorithm software anomaly investigation and correction Design and implementation of algorithm enhancements or improvements Software feasibility analyses of proposed new product algorithms, or major algorithm upgrades Development of tools in support of product monitoring and product analysis, for example as part of MSG MPEF product validation testing Preparation of technical documents on product implementation issues Preparation of technical notes and reports as required Attendance at technical and RSPAIA team meetings as required The focus of these tasks will primarily be on the AMV products extracted from both geostationary and polar orbit systems however, there may tasks related to other products for which the work of the key person may be partially allocated. Required Skills and Experience University degree or comparable qualifications in Meteorology, Atmospheric Physics or related subjects. Minimum of three years experience of processing satellite or meteorological data.
